I shop at tesco on line and was wondering if I should be giving the driver a tip.Call me tight, but it already costs £5.99 to have it delivered.I just don't know if it's the thing to do not good at this tipping stuff and I also get embaressed.Feel like I am patronising a little too.

I wouldn't ...

It hadn't ever crossed my mind. The driver is nice and helpful but as you sy, £5.99 is already a lot. I never know about tipping, find it embarrassing. I dont really even know how much I should leave for hairdressers, hair washers etc. Its one of theose grown up areas I have never mastered.

Don't really want to just wondered if it was the done thing like a hairdresser.

If Tesco is anything like Sainsburys home delivery, they actually have a no tip policy - i.e. the driver is NOT allowed to accept a tip.

I must admit he isn't waiting for one like a bell boy or anything.

I have used Tesco's home delivery, on a wednesday its £3.99 on that day. I live in masionettes, on the 2nd floor without lifts. I have a heart baby, so I decided that it would be easier for them to deliver, I ordered on-line 3 times, on all 3 occasions, I ended up carrying my own shopping up 2 flights of stairs because I had ordered too much!!!!!While my heart baby is upstairs on his own!!!!!!Any one else experienced this or is it just me?

happycat · 30/10/2003 23:07

That's awful he should deliver to your door I would of thought. Is it always the same bloke and have you asked him to carry it up.

I never tip the Tesco man.

Survivour, we used to live in a second floor flat and they always brought the shopping up to me, complaining all the way mind you but there was never any question about them not doing it. I would phone or e-mail Tesco if I were you.

ist time a lady came, so I helped. 2nd time a man, was there anyone to help him because there were quiet a few items, 3rd time a nice young lad, nice smile, told me we had too many stairs. I've been here 9 years, if my son hadn't had open heart surgery, I wouldn't have needed the on-line tesco shop.

If you start he would expect it all the time
