Hi,

A bit of history, my mum works for a card company and used a picture of my daughter as an example on one of their christmas cards. Since then they have been approached by people wanting to use her photo. This made me think that maybe we could join a model agency and put some money away for her for her future. I am a bit worried as don't want to be taken for a ride and obviously want to make sure I contact reputable agencies.
I think my daughter would love it as she is a little poser and loves being around other kids.

Does anyone have any tips on where to start. We live in the Midlands so would be looking for something around here if possible as she hates being in the car.

Thanks

Most agencies will want a fee to represent you, which means they take your money and that's the last you hear from them. It's a world rife with con artists. In my experience, most kids in ads are the baby of someone already involved, so just be careful you don't get ripped off!

Hi emmylou, actually there are plenty of reputable baby/child model agencies about who won't rip you off :) however no agent will be able to guarantee your little one work, or how little or often as this is entirely down to each client. Take a little time to research agencys (most reputable ones will have a good client list and plenty of media clips, photos, news etc.), to give you a pretty good idea of how busy they are. Alba have a list of all those worth approaching. There certainly are scam artists out there , however the list on Alba are all genuine and come recommended by them. Kids London and Urban Angels are both extremely busy agencys with a great client list, plus both have north and south divisions aswell as no/low start up fees. The thing to bear in mind is that there could be loads of travelling and often at short notice, to castings and jobs, and although there is sometimes a casting fee towards travel this is not often the case. However it can be hugely rewarding if only to get to see your little one in print etc just the once ! The best advice I can offer is to do your homework from the list available and treat it as a nice little hobbie for you and your little one. That way when a nice job comes along it'll be a bonus! Good luck :)
