Aren't charity shops a bit funny about these?

are they? as long as they are not dangerous (dh had the whip our iron that kept fusing the house, out of charity shop bag... I was in a bagging up frenzy and forgot the implications ) I would have thought they'd sell well...

like what?

A microwave/grill/oven - bit big actually! And a coffee filter machine.

I've heard somewhere that they can't sell electrical items - I suppose as they can't guarantee the safety of them or something?! Happy to be corrected though. We have a small fridge, just needs a seal repair. We don't know what to do with that either (have no idea how to repair it but I'm sure someone could!) Will watch with interest if there are any suggestions for potential recipients.

how much did you want for the coffee filter machine?[cheecky]

freecycle - we have found new homes for many electrical items this way .

Great site flashingnose - have joined for my local area. Thanks!

You can have it ebbie if you live near enough. It's pretty old though, not fancy.

That site looks good. I was wondering about a women's refuge type place where they need stuff to help set up home later.

Tinker · 20/12/2005 14:42

My sister is manager of a Banardos store and they won't take electrical goos.
If you have lots of second hand furniture stores (there are loads up here) they might take it.
They might even collect it from you, but then they'll sell it on obviously.

our Cancer Research shop takes electrical items and has them tested & certified safe before they re-sell them. Worth asking.

Frostythesurfmum · 20/12/2005 17:06

My mum helps in a Cancer Research shop. They don't take them but other branches do. Apparently they need someone to be able to test them before they can be sold.
