I've read the term (sic) in writing and I've worked out that it (seems to) denote a spelling or grammatical error which is then being quoted. What does 'sic' actually mean?
Also, 'natch'?
TIA

natch is naturally, in a valley accent. I don't know about sic.

Thought of you today as it got dark and I realised I'd not taken a pic of the drive this weekend! LOL!

Will do so very soon and post it - it's still utterly lovely. DH bought drain covers today and weatherproof paint for the bottom of the bay window. Will need to paint the front door soon and get proper numbers instead of the stick on crap ones we have on our stupid peeling filthy ill-fitting front door. Am nesting to the very boundaries of our property

Jools, Christmas comes but once a year, but Munkers namechange far more often. It's in our blood

you're quoting someone word for word even though they are so thick they've got a spelling wrong or spoken with very poor grammer. it's a way of saying 'yes, i know this is wrong and sounds stupid, but this person is the fool, not me'.

It's lovely to think that the new Munker will have only ever known a tip-top drive.

I predict that young Master Munker will, sadly, be a guest of a TV confessional show in the future.. no doubt discussing the damage caused by childhood exposure to uneven paving stones.

Young Master Munker would have dreamt of uneven paving stones, Bubble - sadly, he got rubble, broken bits of blue china tile (wtf? Weirdy former occupants of this house!) and large weeds. Poor, deprived little curly-haired tot
