Help! Christmas Day Lunch tickets ........

I was just wondering if anybody might have any brilliant ideas as to what I can do about the situation I find myself in regarding Christmas Day and lunch ...

A couple of months ago I booked 5 tickets (for my parents, dh, dd and myself) for a wonderful sounding Christmas Day lunch at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Leeds. This was at my parents suggestion and was to be their treat for us.

Now, with Christmas less than 2 weeks away, there has been a massive bust-up between dh and my parents ... it's a long story and I won't bore you with the details, but basically they won't be here at Christmas and I am lumbered with these tickets. I thought the 3 of us might go anyway, but dh won't go.

So .... what can I do? The tickets cost £50 for the adults and £25 for dd i.e. £250 and I have paid a deposit of £125 which is non-refundable.

Does anybody know anybody from around Leeds who might fancy a Christmas Day lunch out - at a reduced price of course?
Do you think I could sell them on eBay?
Should I just write off the £125?

I'm open to any suggestions from you resourceful people ... thanks in advance

Have you contacted the hotel and asked if they have a waiting list? They might be willing to refund you if they have others who will buy the tickets.

My Sil doesnt want to be bothered with Christmas so could ask her. Not sure they could or would spend that much though!
Too many of us!
Try the hotel I bet there is a waiting list

CookieMonster · 13/12/2005 14:00

Just rang them - they are fully booked but do not operate a waiting list.

sent a text to Radio Aire ...

Free ads in the YP appear on a Monday and I've missed the deadline for next Monday, so trying to find out how much an ad would cost ...

Is the fallout beyond redemption ??

If not it may be a good idea to go anyway, and be polite to each other, sometimes once the first arkward few minutes are over things can improve.

CookieMonster · 13/12/2005 15:07

LGJ, at this moment in time, we have total stalemate over this row ... dh refuses to apologise to them and vice versa. They live 200 miles away and were supposed to be staying over Christmas, whereas now I am taking dd to see them between Christmas and New Year.

bloody families .....

So its them that live in Leeds?

CookieMonster · 13/12/2005 15:45

No, I live in Leeds, they live in Hereford. I did suggest to dh that we could go anyway, but he doesn't want anything more to do with it.
