I have just read some e-mails that I haven't looked at and noticed an e-mail from mumsnet requesting a fee to cover their costs. Did anyone else recieve this e-mail and contribute any money?

this sounds v suspicious - i'd report immediately to mumsnet hq using the contact the mumsnet team link at the top.

tamba · 12/12/2005 10:37

Maybe it was about subscriptions?

laughinglil · 12/12/2005 10:37

I think it was for £10 or something similar. It asked to contribute money to cover cost.

It does sound suspicious. Any subs paid to MN are purely voluntary. Definitely check with MN HQ.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 12/12/2005 10:39

What did the whole E-mail say ???

COPPERfeelunderSantasTOP · 12/12/2005 10:39

They sometimes send an e-mail asking people to subscribe. They suggest amounts based on how often you use MN. Does this sound familiar?

laughinglil · 12/12/2005 10:40

just seeing if i have deleted it I will copy and paste it

I've never had anything like this from MN, apart from a reminder that my subs are due, but never requesting a specific amount. Email [email protected] and forward the email to them so they can confirm whether it is genuine or not.

laughinglil · 12/12/2005 10:41

I have deleted it. I just thought it was a little strange and didn't know if anybody has paid any money into mumsnet

if you are on a subscription what are you subscribing to? is there more to mumsnet that I don't know? sorry for asking all these questions!

Subscriptions

No extras, just helping with costs. All voluntary. No one has to pay anything at all.

NomDePlumPudding · 12/12/2005 10:44

You are subscribing to use the site. It is entirely voluntary but MN doesn't run for free

ladymuck · 12/12/2005 10:44

I thought that new registrants got sent an email after about 3 months asking whether they would subscribe (and yes, I suspect it would be phrased as covering costs).

A fair number of members do subscribe.

laughinglil · 12/12/2005 10:50

oh i feel bad now thats probably what i have got. I will subscribe after christmas definately!
