Two weeks ago I bought dd a pair of start-rite shoes. She's a bit of a moaner and said she didn't like them. She's only just 4 and I presumed the leather was a little hard or that she was used to slopping around in her Doodles shoes and would get used to them. Anyway I looked at her feet the other day and found her toes are rather red after she's been wearing them. I feel so bad. I want to take them back but I'm not sure of my rights. I went to a proper shoe shop and as I am not a professional shoe-fitter assumed that they would fit her properly and they obviously haven't. Has anyone else ever taken back a pair of obviously worn shoes and got a refund? I don't want a credit note as I'd rather go somewhere else now. I have my receipt.

Yes, provided the store assistant fitted them for you, then you are entitled to take them back, as they should be qualified to do so. If they were not fitted for your daughter, then it is at the store's discretion. Most shops are sympathetic to children, so have a go!!
