Would you complain? or report bus driver?

This morning I had to get DS (with DD in tow) to school by bus !
The driver hit a side view mirror of a lorry (the lorry was badly parked but still..... there is no mirror left!) I cannot believe the driver did not notice as everyone else in the bus looked - it was noisy! We drove on....

Then he got a call on his mobile and drove for at least 5 mins whilst on the phone.... he had to brake (fairly hard) twice as he was in heavy traffic... and only one hand on steering wheel...

I think this dangerous... should I complain/report him to the bus company ?

Agree with the others that you should report him, Pupuce. It's about to become a criminal offence to drive while chatting on a mobile, isn't it?
We use public transport in London a lot and I am sick to my back teeth of drivers who:

  • Kangaroo off and on the brakes in heavy traffic, making seated passengers want to puke and anyone standing fear for their lives
  • Refuse to let mums with wider buggies use the back doors to get on in order to avoid getting wedged between the front seats
  • Pull up right by the bin/lamp-post at bus stops, making it virtually impossible to get a buggy off safely
  • Occasionally just decide to ignore mums with small children and buggies and drive straight past the stop
  • Smoke their heads off in their little cabs during the break, making the whole hopper bus stink of smoke for the passengers

I know that since privatisation some of the companies treat their staff very badly, from conversations with some of the nicer drivers (no loo break for four hours etc). But on one particular route near me they only seem to employ maniacs. I think Ken is right to invest more in public transport but he should get off his high-profile bendy buses and take a ride in bandit country some time.

My dh was on a bus that hit a house! It knocked the gable off!!!!! The front upstairs window of the bus was shattered. Bus didn't stop....so dh took the number of the bus and wrote a letter to the owner of the house. Otherwise, they would just have returned to find part of their house in the garden with no explanation! And the driver didn't even check that no-one was hurt. I think dh wrote to the council to report the driver as well.

when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant I was thrown to the ground when the bus set off as I was still getting off. I did complain and they said they would speak to the driver but I dont feel that was enough but I was too buisy sorting baby things out to take it further.

I havnt dared get on a bus with the baby (now aged 10 months) and this leaves me stranded as I dont drive. So I have to wait till I can get a lift and thats not very often.

public transport needs to be more parent and baby friendly.
