I bet the kids are having a good xmas this year

Feistybird · 28/11/2005 16:00

blimey, that's going some!

Fireworks · 28/11/2005 16:00

??!!??!!??!!
Wow - hope you enjoyed spending it all, come on, spill the beans we are dying to know how many pairs of boots/sparkly stuff you have bought....

mazzystar · 28/11/2005 16:01

it would be very silly and unneccesary to feel guilty.
unless you have spent it ALL on dresses

munz · 28/11/2005 16:01

jesus girl, what did u buy?

Freckle · 28/11/2005 16:02

Wow! What a star! Did you buy anything spectacular?

Are you in receipt of any benefits? If you spend that sort of money too quickly, you might be deemed to have deliberately deprived yourself of capital in order to carry on receiving benefits and this could affect your entitlement.

Ignore me if you (a) already know this or (b) aren't on benefits.

I don't think that's frittering, you've wisely saved some, invested in a new car and paid off a debt. That's very sensible in my eyes.
Now you could have gone out and got an Audi tt, that would have been frittering!!!

fairydust · 28/11/2005 16:21

rickman - after the time you've had recently i think you deserve to spoil you and the kids - i think you've spetn the money very wisely.

mazzystar · 28/11/2005 16:22

well cars and beds are necessities, and paying off a loan is very wise as you will save all that interest

so enough of the guilt. it was your money after all

HRHWickedwaterwitch · 28/11/2005 16:23

Don't feel guilty, it all sounds reasonable to me - £9k on a car is an investment, £5k paying off a loan is sensible as you won't have to make monthly repayments any more and the rest is stuff you needed/savings.

LadyTophamHatt · 28/11/2005 16:24

Well, all that you just listed comes to 22k so it's definatley not frittering it away.

I bet it's been great

Not frittering at all.Alvin would be proud!

misdee · 28/11/2005 16:37

seems like you done the right thing. when we sold our place, pretty much all of the 26k went on clearing old debts. we had about a grand each to fritter away lol.

munz · 28/11/2005 16:58

def not girl - fritterin it away would have been all on clothes and take ways with nothing to show for it - u have things to show for it.

good on u for paying debts and having savings.

Rickman, you've paid debts off and mainly bought essentials, with a few treats - do not feel guilty.
