My daughter (aged 12) was standing at the bustop talking to her friend this afternoon and an elderley man in a power assisted wheelchair drove into the back of her knocked her over and ran over her leg he then just carried on his way without attempting to ask her if she was ok or apologise. Several people also waiting at the bustop helped her up and saw she was ok.
Surprisingly she does not appear to be too upset by it although her leg does look as if it will be badly bruised. I am furious. I have previously thought these chairs are really dangerous to be driven along the pavement by people who quite often have no idea about how to manouvre them properly. Whilst I have every sympathy with people who have disabilities I do think something should be done about how they are driven and also perhaps some kind of insurance although I am not sure what. What are other peoples views.

Doesnt it make you so mad though misdee? A lot of them have no regard for anyone else on the pavement. Will have to follow your way of doing things in future I think

yes it does. there are two well known characters in this town who just drive their motorised wheelchairs across the rd without looking. one of them was run over a while back after she did it, and yet she still does it.

most are considerate tho, i live in a bunglow in a warden assited area so am getting to know most of them now and stop for a chat.
