.... or put the wrong ingredients in to render them inedible, would you offer a traditional (Delia) christmas cake instead, or would you nip down to Tesco's and buy a few of their nasty ones?

go to tesco!

MarsLady · 24/11/2005 22:13

Tesco's without a doubt. You did your mother earth bit. Whilst you're there... buy some wine. It'll help. Trust me!

unicorn · 24/11/2005 22:13

Buy some nasty (?)ones, bash em up a bit and sprinkle icing sugar on them (like Alison Pearson "I don't know...." book)

voila.. perfecto!

stitch · 24/11/2005 22:13

tescos

PSML. That sounds like something I'd do. go for shop-bought & put your own icing on.

The only problem with tescos is that it will take time out of my working day... about an hour.

Wheareas the crimbo cake is ready. But then I'd either have to make another one, or not have one.

having tried my best, i would choose whichever of those two options was the least hassle. i think either option would be acceptable to the school.

If it is children who are going to be buying the cakes then I would go to Tesco, think fairy cakes/mini muffins would be more up their street. Although I know what you mean, homemade is much nicer.

bossykate · 24/11/2005 22:18

shall we call you kingalfredxmassaxontypename from now on?

sansouci · 24/11/2005 22:18

Caligyulea · 24/11/2005 22:20

actually, having recently helped out at school cake sale, i agree with mrss - in the sense that those were the ones the kids wanted. otoh - whole cakes were sold for extortionate sums to the adults, so if this is an option, all is not lost.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 24/11/2005 22:20

Take it from me the Christmas cake will not be appreciated,I brought along a lovely chocolate cake made by my ironing lady. I paid her £5 for it, the other PTA Mummies wanted to sell it @ 8 slices for 20p = 1.60. I rebelled and the school secretary bought it. So please keep your Christmas cake it will sell, but not at market value.

bossykate · 24/11/2005 22:21

if it's the christmas "fayre" then go with the delia cake - no brainer.

Caligyulea · 24/11/2005 22:22

I did think of King Alfred earlier on and was about to launch into educational chat with DS about it, but he was in too much of a strop because the cakes tasted horrible
