What do you reckon the going rate for this is?

Had a note through the door from my neighbour's son offering to do odd jobs for extra cash for Christmas. We're going away at the weekend and the cat will need feeding Sat am, Sat pm and Sun pm. What do you think we should offer him if he agrees to do it?

a tenner! He will only be in for a few minutes at a time.

piffle · 23/11/2005 17:32

in our area, you'd get it for a fiver, but everything is cheaper in the rural quarters

cupcakes · 23/11/2005 17:32

Agree, no more than £10!

sparklymieow · 23/11/2005 17:33

true piffle, we live in an expensive area, no idea where FTSM lives though.

Frostythesurfmum · 23/11/2005 19:20

Thanks! We're definitely rural and I'm a cheapskate so £5 is sounding good. Anyone else?

I would say a tenner. Admittedly it is only a quick job each time, but her has to do it several times.

Milliways · 23/11/2005 19:25

For 3 trips - £5 is adequate, what would he want for a 2 week holiday? (I get a bottle of wine from my neighbours for that!)

WigWamBam · 23/11/2005 19:26

A fiver is plenty if all he has to do is feed the cat three times.

gloriainexcHELSIsdeo · 23/11/2005 19:36

Go £7.50 its half between the suggestions so far or £6.00 (£2.00 per feed).

Frostythesurfmum · 23/11/2005 19:42

It's hardly a lot of work is it? He'll be back home within 10 minutes. So if we give him a fiver that's £10 an hour, so not a bad rate for a 15 year old!
