Thanks I think I'll need to do an online shop soon. Where do you get all the codes from

PennyLess · 21/11/2005 20:44

but surely all these codes can only be used once and are particular to a clubcard?

marthamoo · 21/11/2005 20:48

No £15s Jools? You're losing your touch

JoolsToo · 21/11/2005 23:34

Tesco are EEEEEEEEEVIL

moondog · 21/11/2005 23:41

Yes,they bloody are.....

JoolsToo · 21/11/2005 23:52

why are the eeeeeeeeeeeeevil?

OP posts:
moondog · 22/11/2005 09:44

Because they hoover up and spit out all other shops in the vicinity, destroy up any flash of quirkiness and individuality and are a blot on the landscape.

Our entire lives will soon be governed by Tesco.

Very frightening thought....

We talk about consumer choice. These days it's Tesco Tesco Tesco and Tesco.
Soon the only independent shops left will be those catering to the rich who will be willing to pay a premium for something that isn't from bloody Tesco.

Remember this when in ten years time there is nowhere else to shop.

CountessDracula · 22/11/2005 10:02

yes precisely

And their food is vile IMO

LilacBump · 22/11/2005 10:07

we had a tesco open about 2 years ago. the local safeway, esso petrol station and lots of little shops on the high street have all closed down. tesco has the only cheap petrol around so everyone goes there.

moondog · 22/11/2005 10:12

Yes.....there is no flavour in anything from there, even the so called 'Best' range or whatever it is called.

I also fail to understand why people think a trip to one of these monoliths is 'convenient'. It saps the soul-the huge carparks, the bad trolleys, nasty lighting, cavernous interiors, wall to wall dullards one has to contend with, aisles and aisles of crap you neither want nor need (bloody Kandoo wipes and pull ups anyone??? Er.....no thanks.)

God,I feel really depressed at the thought of it even.

We had a Tesco open in our (small) town on Monday. I dread to think of the effect it's going to have on our lovely independent shops. Ds's class were invited there when it opened to have a photo taken for the paper in exchange for a £1000 cheque for the school. Dh and I felt this was really inappropriate (for us anyway - dh runs his own shop) so ds remained in school.

moondog · 22/11/2005 10:21

cupcakes..good for you.
My child wouldn't have gone in such a scenario either.

LilacBump · 22/11/2005 10:21

cupcakes, i didn't think it would have such an impact on our town, but now it is just forcing the little shops to close. we still have a butcher, farm shops and a few clothes shops, but i think they will not last at this rate.

cupcakes · 22/11/2005 10:23

Ds didn't mind not going at all. For a treat after school I took him to a local independent cafe and got him a cake!

Much nicer.

tamula · 22/11/2005 10:37

Nothing wrong with tesco in general, and if we can get some money off they Yipee!

But I think its becoming somewhat of a rabid dog spreading everywhere and swallowing up all in its path. Shouldnt something as giant as tesco be better regulated? They shouldnt be allowed to come in and take over, they are only convienient when they are not taking over the nation.

Most supermarket foods are a tad gross and tasteless by definition. We need to go back to basics. Meat from butcher, fruit and veg from greengrocers and else from general stores, famrmers markets and so on... IMO

Every time I go I complain and say "I hate this shop" but I keep on going as it is huge - just down the road and is open 24 hours. I can even park there and walk to ds's school.

I do drive to Sainsburys Savacentre quite often but its a 2 hour round trip by the time I have done all my shopping. So usually Tescos it is.
