What about a Girl's World (they are not called that any more but they were in my day) - i.e. a lady's head complete with styling acoutrements (sp?) and pretend cosmetics. ElC sell them.

Have also seen some fabulous farm sets. Can mail order them from letterbox, GLTC etc

Have you got her a medical kit thing yet? Mine has a little defibrillator trolley doo daa with various medical instruments and is adept at listening to hear beats.

handlemecarefully · 18/11/2005 22:03

heart beats (hic! - can you tell I'm bevvied up?)

swings · 18/11/2005 22:23

Wow! Fantastic replies, thanks everyone, you've got some lucky little girls.

Dd not long ago had her birthday and got a trike and a medical kit, hmc (thank goodness you noticed the mysogyny on that Madonna thread by the way I was totally shouted down for pointing it out).

Couple of questions:

Baby Annabel - do you go for the interactive one? and if not, can you still get the accessories for the interactive one?

What's an 'animal hospital rescue thing' someone mentioned?

What's an 'aqua draw'?

I love the thought of the CD player from ELC. Does it really work?

Heeellllooooo AM! You still in love with Craig? What's happened to him by the way? Any gossip?

Thanks for that, I think dd would love a CD player as she's mad about music. Or Mooznik as she pronounces it! Your dd still cutting things up then?

This is Aquadraw . It is a big material sheet with two "pens" that you fill with water. yout lo then draws ont he material and it all appears - no mess Then is dried clear and they start again.

We got the interactive Baby Annabel for DD last Christmas. She is well loved, but very annoying witht he noise. Fortnately DD tebds to leave her turned off mostly now. The non-interactive one is a fair bit smaller than the interactive one. And the Baby Annabel clothes and bottles wouldn't fit. You could use other makes of clothes/accessories though.

Some of the Animal Hospital stuff shown here.

Am, I asked dd and she said she wants a fluffy dressing gown (have commissioned Aunt to get that one) and some books about snowmen. She's snowman crazy at the moment. I know she'd like no end of cuddly animals I might buy but I'd like to try to expand her interests a little this time!

Give her a couple of catalogues - ELC, Toys R Us, Argsos and a pen - tell her to circle the things she likes best. Might give you some ideas.

swings · 18/11/2005 22:42

Actually I did that with an Argos catalogue Hula. She just looked for snowmen. Her favourite 'read' to herself at the moment are the Christmas catalogues coming through the door. She goes through them and counts how many snowmen appear on each page!

I think I'll try looking at another catalogue with her. She seems to get pretty overwhelmed by too much stuff though. If I got her the long lists of things mentioned on here she'd just stop opening things after the 5th package or so.

Troutpout, she's getting a medieval princess dressing up outfit too, courtesy of Woolies

Hulababy · 19/11/2005 07:55

swings - last year it took DD all day to open her stuff, and we let her do it in her own time. DD is the only child and only grandchild on both sides, and I have a large family so she does get a lot I guess, although I don't think excessive. But she will open a present and play with it before moving on. If necessary I will leave some until Boxing Day too.

hockeymum · 19/11/2005 07:55

My dd (3) is getting:-

Leappad system (pink) and matching backpack
2 leappad books
Bella Ballerina dancemat, barre and DVD
Madagascar DVD
Cinderella DVD
Dolls House
Jumping Tigger Game (Tigger version of Buckaroo)
Boots sounds about the street tape and game
ELC Pink CD player and microphone
a sleeping bag
a hula hoop (still trying to find one but it s what she asked for)
new PJs and slippers (on Christmas Eve)

This is from all the family. They are all getting her a little bit from this list. The only thing she is not going to be getting yet that she would love to have is a Baby Annabelle. We are going to give her one of those as a present from her new brother or sister when he/she arrives in April. Might get it now though while its 3 for 2 in Boots.

swings · 19/11/2005 08:49

That's very like what dd did on her birthday, Hulababy. We'd planned a day out but it took so long to open the presents there wasn't time!

OP posts:
Hulababy · 19/11/2005 08:52

I think it is really nice, certainly better than them just rushing ina nd ripping paper off all over and not having a clue who got them what. Certianly makes it easier for sorting out the thank you lists

swings · 19/11/2005 12:56

Yes, I agree. I remember watching dd's cousins ripping open their presents and barely looking what was inside when they were this age. I really like it that she has to 'get to know' her gifts.

DD will be 3y 4m at Christmas. She is getting...

  • ELC pink keyboard & stool (now £25 in ELC's save 1/3 promo)
  • Sylvanian Families Lakeside Lodge House (another saving, RRP is £50, I've paid £29.99!)
  • Furniture for house (combo of new and eBay)
  • Sylvanian Grey Bear family
  • Allan Ahlberg book
  • Barbie Pegasus DVD
  • A couple of original 1980's/90's Polly Pocket sets £3b for the pair from eBay. They have the older style ones at her nursery and she loves to play with them

Managed to find a few money savers this year so prety pleased with myself
