Christmas tree dilema.......help me decide!

We have always had a real tree but this year with dd 16mths think i'd be better of with artificial one.

Dilema is - do I get a six foot one that will fill my bay window where the real one used to go but will mean having to move all of dd's toys out of the way,
or do i get a slimline 7 foot one that could either go in the bay with some of her toys or it could go by the sofa next to the fire guard (so would be sort of blocked out)?

Any one got any experineces of trees and littleees? Also where else can i look online for one - have tried woolie, b&q, homebase and argos (but they dont give width of tree just height!) Can't wait till xmas but want dd to be ok with tree too. Thanks

We've always had a real tree and the children have been fine with it. Have had to put the presents away though or they always get opened in a frenzy as soon as my back is turned.

get a real one..once she gets prickled a few times, she'll probably give it a wide berth

We've decided to get a real one (you can go saw one down for £15, and a nice fake one is around £70....)

Ds is 19 months, plus I have mindees of varying ages under 27 months too!

My main concern is ds eating the ... prickle leaf dropping bits (sorry no idea what they are called!) but I'm sure it won't last too long lol

thanks guys, seen a nice fake one for 20quid, half price in woolies, oh dear what to do - dont want dd to get needles everywhere but do love the smell of them..... maybe i spray a fake one with pine airfreshner.....

I too don't see the attraction with real trees - but we've got a fibre optic one and that's great with a toddler as they can't mess around with the lights!?! Worth a thought, maybe ;-)

We have always had an artificial tree. Last year I had my lounge decorated and was absolutely adamant that I was going to have a real one. It would look good in my new lounge and the smell of it would be lovely. So we went out and got one.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!

The tree looked droopy on christmas eve, thte pine needles were dropping off everytime we walked past the blinkin' thing. It was horrid. I'm still finding pine needles nearly 12 months later.

We are going for the artificial variety again this year. I wanted the real one, got it and tried it. Not for me after all.

Will be getting a real tree with my two (DS 4, DD will be 17 months).

IT becomes part of the family tradition i think...what you have. The thing about a real tree for us is the trip up to the forest to select it (with a bit of luck there is usually a bit of snow about by then up there). It's one of our xmas rituals now.Strapping it in the car....luggin it in...needling your hands to bits. That's the bit the kids really love.
The pine needles that i still occasionally find stuck behind skirtings 12 months later and the smelly 'farty' water (we get a rooted one) i could possibly do with out ...but hey...it's xmas!

We have always had a real tree and I love that. When it was DD's first Christmas and she was just getting active - 8 months or so - I opted for a fake one but hated it. It was a decent one, not cheap or anything but I missed the niceness and the smell of a real tree. Have had a real tree ever since again, and never had any problems with her going near it.
