I'd say so - it probably has a sliding mechanism to fold it away at the top too. We have a 3 in 1 ladder (extendable, step and staggered)and use it wherever we need to.

nowhere to store ladders here, dd3 pulled my dads set over earlier which i have borrowed to get into the loft, so want some loft ladders so its safe here.

yes they are. WE had one of these fitted with a new loft hatch etc for £100. Worth it for the fact that some bloke came and made sure it was all super secure etc and DH thinks they are fab as ds cant pull the ladders away etc when he is up there and they are really sturdy.

cheers. will go measure loft hatch as well. when it says clearence of 102cm what does that means? is that the distance on the floor needed?

i think it is also clearence needed in the loft for the ladders to slide into??? Only think though but outs slide back up onto beams so have to have storage space. The actual height of ladders we have adjusts so they can be at a slant or rigidly straight.

be plenty of room. will order them. thanks. (get my dad to help fit them when he comes back from hols)

I would think it is height and space along the beams - you would slide the lower part of ladder vertically upwards onto itself and into the loft then it slides away forwards.

1m 05cm in an arc, from the edge of the hatch, would be required clearance, from about 60 degrees (ish) to more-or-less flat I'd guess.

You raise the lower sections onto the top of the ladder IYSWIM, and then give the resulting lump a nice push. The resulting lump will be (approximately) 1m long.

You'll either screw to the existing battening surrounding the loft hatch opening, or will need to cut a baton of wood and screw that between your top floor josts, and then screw into that.

Erm... is that any help ?

Some companies do an all-in-one price, as Nemo describes, which might be worth it.
