Daughter Hit On Head My Towering Globes In ELC

when she walked past them, the top one fell and whacked her on the head leaving a huge mark.
not one member of staff came over and when i went to them, she asked me to wait while she turned the heating down, then wrote my name, her name and our contact details on a scrap of till role saying she was logging it in the accident book?

im not gunna take action or anything as it wouldnt be worth the hassle as my daughter is now ok, but for gods sake..a childrens toy shop, where children are encouraged to play with the equiptment!
am very annoyed about their lack of concern and making sure she's okay(they said they would ring this afternoon to see how she was, and they havent botherd)

I would write to the manager and ask if it has been recorded in the accident book,.
also express your concern about the way the things were stacked.. they shouldn't be left precariously about

kid · 15/11/2005 20:41

I'd write a letter to head office, hopefully you got the member of staff's name which you can include in the letter.

TCF is Evesmama

NannyL · 15/11/2005 21:39

Id do that as well (write a letter to head office or something)
Tell them about how dangerouse it was, and that you hope it doesnt happen to naother child (aor anyone!). I expect you might at least get a voucher from ELC that you can use to by your daughter a present (that after being hit on the head im sure she deserves!)

hockeymum · 16/11/2005 08:35

Write a letter to the store manager and cc it to the head office. It is normal policy for them to send a letter to you, apologising that you felt the issue wasn't resolved in the store and confirm it has been noted in the accident book. Once head office are involved too it is very likely you will get a £15 voucher as a gesture of good will. You can use this to buy a nice present for your daughter.

Regardless of what you think about getting the actual voucher. It sounds that the staff weren't that concerned about the problem and that it might happen again, maybe injuring another smller child far worse. It is definitely worth writing a letter and making sure head office see it so that they do something about their stacking levels. Personally the voucher would be the clincher for me though!!

I'd be mortified and would contact H/O...they should be more responsible and also, in these days of PI firms sueing left right and centre a bit more careful...

handlemecarefully · 16/11/2005 08:53

TCF - sorry you were accused of being a troll - bit uncalled for.

I agree with earlier advice - definitely a written complaint to Head Office.

thechristmasfairy · 16/11/2005 09:01

thanks HMC

My ds was injured in Ikea the other day and now I wish I had done something about it. We came out of the lift and turned the corner to go to the children's dept. He walked straight into a table thing coming out of thw wall for people to pick up tape measures, pencils etc. It was at his eye level and it scratched him from the cotrner of his eye across his face leaving a very nasty mark. A very close miss to his eye.

I wish now I had complained and if I was in that position again - or yours - I would cewrtainly have done something about it.

thechristmasfairy · 16/11/2005 09:35

ooh, poor lamb, i bet that really hurt, you could still contact them, they may have cctv in that area(with it being a lift..the lightfingerd may use it as a place to hide when stashing their wares?)..even if just to suggest they move it so it doesnt happen again?
