I know it would be hard, my bro is moving from Cambridge to Southampton. He is already working in southampton and renting (has been for a few months whilst they sold the house) and his wife is at her parents. Yes a nightmare, but worth it long term

LadyTophamHatt · 16/11/2005 16:17

Our buyer won't complete on the 12th as he's out of the country. He refuses to compromise and I'm fed up with being flexible.
We've now asked if our sellers can move earlier and use storage as this really could break the whole thing.

LTH - my solicitor has just advised me to tell our buyers to get stuffed! I am exhausted by the whole business. The buyers want me to ring them tonight and will no doubt try to knock the price down again. I don't know whether I'm coming or going and have practically drained the phone battery today. Ours are cash buyers and still there is endless crap.

Hope you manage to sort something out.

LIZS · 16/11/2005 17:20

tbh don't see why he can't still complete on 12th, as long as you have exchanged before he goes, and just move in later if he is a ftb. Sounds like a complete prat or he is making an excuse for some reason.

JoolsToo · 16/11/2005 17:24

LTH - I feel for you and its worrying for us - even if you get a sale you're toubles aren't over! I have a friend who is in the same boat as you

LadyTophamHatt · 17/11/2005 12:18

Honestly, this is becoming a joke.
I wasn't going to phone the sol today because I expect she's fed up with me but Dh wanted me to before he went to work.
She pretty much said she's utterly fucked off with our buyer, he's being a pratt and and selfish idiot (reading between the lines there though)
She said they've come back with an earlier date that but the letting agaency are causing a stink because the carpets won't be cleaned by then.
What??
FFS!!!
She told them they are being pathetic.

I'm not going to ring again.

Oh LTH
It's gonna get worse for us isn't it? We've had 16 months of stress and we've not even got to your stage yet - I don't know if my nerves can take it!

yoyo · 17/11/2005 12:45

LTH - don't give up hope. It looks like we are on the point of exchanging at last and I didn't think I'd be saying that today. Please keep fingers crossed for us!

LadyTophamHatt · 17/11/2005 14:45

GDK, I always think about you when I'm posting stuff about our move.
I was telling DH about your house the other day and tried to show him the details but couldn't find the thread. He suggested all the things "we've" tried one MN for you.
I just can not believe you've had such bad luck, I really feel for you but TBH I really have no idea how you manage to stay so calm about. I'd be ranting and raving all over MN.
How is the agent working for you?

Our sol just called to say our buyer isn't budging from 28th dec now so the nearest date to that after the hols is 3/1/06, Dh is working then so the next available date for us is 5/1/06.

How ridiculous, that will be 7 weeks between exchanging cvontracts and actually moving.

they've actually agreed at date!

5th of bloody January though!

don't want to jinx it.

LTH - you are worrying me. Thought our solicitor would have sorted ours yeaterday but he didn't and he wasn't in today. Hope it all happens on Monday as we have told our buyers the completion will be on Friday and the removals men are booked.

Are you exchanging on Monday now?

LadyTophamHatt · 19/11/2005 07:08

Yes we will be, allegedly!
I won't be holding my breath though.

Good luck, LTH! We were supposed to exchange last Thursday but didn't happen - hopefully Tuesday. This house selling is so stressful, isn't it???

LadyTophamHatt · 19/11/2005 07:27

Stressful?
Blimey I didn't realise how stressed I was until the other day when I was washing my hair. Clumps of it were falling out. 2 great big hair balls in the bottom of the shower
My hair hasn't fallen out that badly since DS3 was a baby and my hormones made it fall out

I dread to think what it would be like with more people in the chain but as it is we're the only ones buying and selling.

dinny · 19/11/2005 07:43

Oh, poor you. Ours has beeen going on since April and is a tiny chain too. You're moving to Sussex, aren't you?

LadyTophamHatt · 19/11/2005 07:51

Yes, that's right.
