What do you give your child for comfort?

I was just reading the Mumsnet tips and saw one which said give your child something of yours to take to school, to comfort them - like your hanky.

Just out of interest, do you give your child anything and what?

When I was little and at school, I used to get really homesick (even in those few hours!) and my mum used to give me the tissue she'd used to blot her lipstick on because then I could keep it easily in my pocket, it smelt of her and if I opened it up it looked like a kiss!!! lol! I hardly even used to look at it, just reassuring having it there!

DD used to have a small pink cow that she took to nursery from about 6months to 11/2 years. It was great because it had space to slot a photograph into a pocket on the cows tummy - so she tuned it over and there were DP & I grinnng up at her... At 2 she's probably far too independent to want a picture of us with her now, but she loved it at the time!

I gave each of my boys a heart saying "I love you" - made of card and then laminated ... I know, it sounds really cheesy, but they liked having it in their pockets.

I kiss ds's hand & he puts the kiss in his pocket in case he needs it later!

Notlob that's lovely - I might steal your idea!
