I was sterilising it. But then of course, I came and arsed about on Mumsnet and forgot about it. And then there was this funny smell...

edam · 11/11/2005 22:30

Caligula · 11/11/2005 22:33

Caligula, this is why I love Mumsnet!!
I could have gone through my entire life without knowing anything about mooncups!!
This is going to be my conversation piece for many weeks to come

marthamoo · 11/11/2005 23:50

Why can't you just put it in the dishwasher like normal people? PMSL @ excellent thread title.

I sent mine back, y'know?

Hattie05 · 11/11/2005 23:52

dishwasher?

saucepan?

Neither methods sound to appealing to me!

hunkermunker · 11/11/2005 23:53

Think it's probably sterile now then, Caligula

Why sent back, Moo?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 11/11/2005 23:57

Just been out for the evening, with some nice, but slightly dull people, found myself wondering over coffee about what might be happening on MN.

Not sure I could have predicted this one.

marthamoo · 11/11/2005 23:58

Didn't like it, hunker. I am very sensitive, like a princess I think.

hunkermunker · 12/11/2005 00:03

Have visions of The Princess And The Mooncup now...even 100 mattresses and she could still feel it

marthamoo · 12/11/2005 00:04

Yeah, exactly - that's me! I can't even do tampons. I am truly a delicate laydee.

popsycal · 12/11/2005 00:06

i had visions of it being in there withthe bottles....

HuggyBear · 12/11/2005 00:10

Cabe · 12/11/2005 00:29

ROFL

Was going to recommend MN to SIL... not sure if she'd forgive me if she stumbled on this thread

Did it set the smoke alarm off? Can you imagine explaining that to the firemen???

MrsSpoon · 12/11/2005 00:40

LOL!

crazydazy · 12/11/2005 09:06

My god its so huge!!! No way could I get that in, I too am very sensitive to things being shoved in. I'm afraid DP is the only one allowed in and thats by invitation only

SoupDragon · 12/11/2005 09:09

Please don't mention Mooncups and dishwashers in the same sentence...

SoupDragon · 12/11/2005 09:10

Crazydazy, I've never seen one "in the flesh" as it were but I think I can guarantee that it's not as large as, say, a baby's head!

And yes, I was concerned that this thread resulted in major burns somewhere delicate...

Blandmum · 12/11/2005 09:14

Out of interest , why do you need to strilise it?

Nothing else inserted 'there' has to be strerile. Tampons don't, neither to diaphragms and penises are famous for not usualy being sterile.

crazydazy · 12/11/2005 09:17

Is it made of rubber then? The way the lady was holding it made it look huge!!!

Tbh I never want to think about the size of a baby's head coming out of my precious parts!!! I allowed two out and god that was painful!!! Not at the same time you understand

I find the whole thought of the Mooncup quite disgusting tbh - I mean tampax are not THAT expensive are they??? Surely people are not that hard up nowadays????

I told DP about it and he went quite pale, he can't cope when I have flushed the toilet and it sometimes remains.......

crazydazy · 12/11/2005 09:18

.....not least the thought of me boiling it in pan!!!!

SoupDragon · 12/11/2005 09:19

martianbishop, you mean you don't make your DH dip his in Milton before you have sex??

snort!

Caligula · 12/11/2005 10:28

I don't know why I sterilise it really. The thought of putting it in the dishwasher makes me feel a bit faint, and I just sterilise it in between periods so that next time, I know it's been properly cleaned.

Crazydazy - it's not just the price, it's the convenience. Now that I've got used to it, when I'm not sending it up in flames it's more convenient than tampons. Plus the landfill issue.

OP posts:
crazydazy · 12/11/2005 10:57

I thought it must be something to do with the ozone!!!

I guess its a case of each to their own. Never liked the idea of tampons to be honest!!! But my friends used to say to me "how can you use towels?" don't like them either but what choice do I have if I don't like inserting things.

At least I know what one is now, thanks Caligula!!

Skyler · 12/11/2005 11:07
