Ew help - foul smelling washing thanks to DH how can I make it nice?!

Half of it's my newborn's stuff and somehow DH has managed to make it all smell rather iffy (quickwash with some of his socks thrown in I think)... is there anything magical I can spray on it or something that'll make it smell nice without affecting a newborn's skin? I don't want to have to wash it all again! We need some of it to wear out tomorrow!

Slightly boring problem lol sorry...

He probably didn't get out of the washing machine quick enough, so it has that yikky musty smell. I've had this before and no amount of spraying masks it, bung it back in quick and give it a short wash with a bit of detergent and then dry it quickly over night.

Alternatively bung some fabric conditioner in and put it on the rinse/spin cycle - that seems to do the trick (and a bit quicker than doing a whole quick wash)

wow. we really are a complete liablility aren't we! LMAO.

Sorry, but I think the only thing you can do is put it through the wash again - when my washing's gone smelly like this, nothing else has helped it. A quick wash (without dh's smelly socks!) should do it.

Yes, DC ... and half the time you do it on purpose so that you don't get given the job again!

This work sreally well - if you have any essential oils in the house a ropor two of those in with your washing liquid is great. Lavender is nice - or mixed with geranium or eucalyptus (eucalyptus is good if it a niff which won't stink)

The lavender will also help kill off any nasties

But is that ok on newborn skin?

tbh, I would wash it again straight away and dry it as fast as possible on a radiator, 'ironing dry' tomorrow if necessary.

BAD DH, BAD!

(but if it happens again, run your machine with soda crystals in it, and no clothes - it might be yukky inside. i don't know the technical term for that)

If its newborn skin I'd only use a tiny amount (1 or 2 drops) of lavender. That should be just fine. I used it with DD's stuff when she was newborn and she has really sensitive skin. No problems. I did also use quite a few skin things on her for newborns that has small amounts of lavender oil in them.

Thanks ... ugh what a faff! I might try the soda crystal thing, months of DH's socks can't be good for a washing machine!
