should I report it?

I have just discovered that my dh's ex wife is still claiming disabled living allowance for their son, even though he is now an adult and went into permanent residential care in easter 2002.

I am furious. She has just used it to lease a new car on a special scheme, replacing a previous vehicle on the same scheme . I believe this allowance should go with him to help pay for his care, not stay with his mother when he doesn't live there any more.

Should I report it, or does this just seem like sour grapes to you?

Can I just quote myself here? When I originally posted on this thread I said "I don't personally think it is right to turn a blind eye if you know for certain someone is defrauding the system."

Notice the "know for certain" bit. Obviously if you don't know the facts then that doesn't apply. So you either find out the facts (as has been done here by Jimjams mostly) or you leave well alone.

ScrummyMummy - is a steely moral core a good thing or a bad thing? Feeling all unsure of myself now....

Jimjams · 02/10/2003 13:52

Slightly off on a tangent here- but I was furious with our local Ed psych who suggested we should use our DLA to pay for an OT (it's already going on SALT- and we'd just paid 1000 pounds for BIBIC). This was shortly after the pre-school advisory teacher told us we should use our DLA to pay for the one to one in nursery.

I always try to imagine what the response would be if it was suggested that someone use their child benefit to pay for their child's teacher.

Of course it's a good thing! I hate my wishy washiness on such things. Sorry OM- really didn't mean to make you feel unsure.

ScummyMummy · 02/10/2003 16:57

And GGGRRRRRRRRRRRR to the ed psych, jimjams. The bananaheaded div.

ScummyMummy · 02/10/2003 16:58

It's a good thing because you're sure of your core moral values, at least in theory. I see grey areas everywhere I look sometimes, I think.

No worries about the grey areas, Scummy, you can always ask me. I see things in a lovely vista of black and white and, the excellent thing is, I'm always right.
