Does your DH/DP read books?

I love reading and can't understand why DH doesn't.
He will happily read a newspaper and various types of non-fiction (travel, politics, environmental issues, history etc) but I don't think I've ever seen him read a novel in the ten plus years we've been together.
Anyone else's DH/DP like this?

Yes. I used to get through far more novels than him - now it's the other way round . He likes me choosing/recommending books to him, which is quite sweet. (I did the English degree, so it's one (in fact probably the only) area where I am regarded as the household expert.

He reads science books, anything factual.

I can remember discussing this with my ex who only ever read autobiographies - and not many of those and he just couldn't understand why someone would read a stosy.

I know, CarolinaMoon, isn't it weird? I have friends, who know who they are whose walls are invisible for books up to the ceiling & I wish.

I suspect it may be a weeny bit of aspiringness - ie he thinks he might one day have a Library. But I won't be mean because he's going to help me with our booklists (see Education) & will be in charge of Science Fiction for the Pre-Teen That Does Not Have Sex In It.

Tends to read non fiction - like Touching the Void, history and biographies - but has also recently read the Da Vinci Code et al.

DH reads both fiction and non-fiction books. At the moment he is reading more than me.

DH is constantly reading. At the dinner table, in the bog, everywhere all the time. Sometimes drives me crazy. I read too but not as much as him obviously. He will read sci fi novels, reference books, computer books, science books, history books. Etymology is his latest passion. If he doens't have a book to hand he will read anything else that is available (magazines etc.). I actually end up learning a lot from him without having to read stuff myself (I don't have as much time)

DP and i both read a lot more when we were younger. he's a big robert rankin, terry pratchet and kurt vonnegut fan. he also writes stories.

We both read loads.

We always joke that the books he reads have single word titles that are embossed in gold or silver!

He likes Dean Koontz, sci fi etc

the day never goes by without both of us reading something

Dh and I both read a fair amount, but rarely the same book which I think is a shame as half the books in our house are out of bounds to one or other of us, and books are so expensive to keep buying. When dh comes home with some new book we haven't really the money for, I always think "Why don't you read one of my books?" and I expect he feels a bit the same about me. Plus, it would be nice to discuss some books together. On the other hand, if I am reading something he wants to read too, he annoys me by not waiting for me to finish it, but picking it up when I put it down and trying to finish it before me!
