ks- please tell me your DIY secret for removing bath sealant

I have a mouldy shower and I need your sure fire method of removal.

I removed a bit accidentally today with a microfibre cloth - only a thin bit behind a basin but still! (It was mildewed and I rubbed at it and it come away in me 'and, miss.)

the sealant or the mould Jan? I have a microfibre cloth, but I think I need ks's magic knowledge for the metres of sealant here.

oh, ks, I thought you meant silicone sealant, not moulding. Sob. Now I will have to go and google. It is a bugger to remove, even with a craft knife. I hate using those things.

Yes, I be talking of the rubbery stuff known as silicone. Grouting can be de-moulded, but silicone seems impossible to de-mould once the evil black stuff has its feathery tendrils embedded in the silicone.
the vinegar smell is due to the acetic anhydride in the sealant reacting to form acetic acid (hence yeuky smell)

gb, yes, it was the silicone that came away with the cloth (but as I said it was a v thin strip).

IME if you can loosen the 2 very edges of it the whole strip can be pulled up in a very satisfying fashion - well, depending on what it's stuck to I suppose.
