yes don't worry, I have a full fridge/freezer/larder, the cleaner is coming in the morning, I am going to call in sick and spend the day shivering and sweating in bed.

Get lots of paracetamol/ibuprofen in (if you can take the ibuprofen and it doesn't aggravate your asthma) and alternate with overlap just like you would for the kiddies... I think Nelsons do a combined homeopathy remedy called Coldenza - I saw it in Boots when I was looking for something else and it had me intrigued - got to be worth a try. Lots of vit C. TV remote at your side...

CountessDracula · 06/11/2005 18:38

oddly I am seriously averse to watching tv when ill - I think it's because daytime tv makes me suicidal.

Awwww

Um... send someone out for lots of glossy magazines and books? Rent a shed load of films to watch?

There's got to be some mileage out of being sick, come on - try harder

CountessDracula · 06/11/2005 18:54

oh bum despite taking 2 paracetomal over an hour ago my temp is going up. I hate taking nurofen as they give me gut rot but guess I should

OP posts:
GeorginaA · 06/11/2005 19:07

If you can manage another couple of hours, you can cover a 24hr period by having paracetamol (wait three hours) nurofen (wait five hours) paracetamol... (etc etc).

Some fever isn't necessarily bad as it's a natural response by the body to run at a hotter temperature the bug can't survive at.

GeorginaA · 07/11/2005 08:07

How are you feeling today, CD?

gingernut · 07/11/2005 14:30

CountessDracula · 07/11/2005 23:37

At last starting to feel a tiny bit better - went out today and walked about 100yds to chemist and had to lie down for an hour afterwards. He said there is a mini local epidemic of flu so at least I know it is that.

God it is vile. I really had forgotten how bad flu is. Have had a raging temperature every night and hideous cold sweats!

gingernut · 09/11/2005 20:34

Yup, that sounds like real flu (mild bout though if you made it down the road already). IME it tends to take a while to get over flu, so don't overdo it woman!. Luckily mine turned out to be a flu-ey bug but not real flu (my definition being that I managed to carry on once I had dosed myself up with ibuprofen).

expatinscotland · 09/11/2005 20:57

I agree it's the real thing. That fever and those chills and sweats are a dead giveaway. Gawd, they are AWFUL, aren't they?! Those chills were so bad they hurt.

DO NOT OVERDO IT! I did, b/c I'd been healthy and young. I wound up w/pnuemonia in both my lungs and in hospital.

CountessDracula · 10/11/2005 00:25

NO am not overdoing it, am off work for the rest of the week and dd is in nursery on Friday (normally I work mon-thurs and then am at home with her on fri) We have cancelled most of our weekend plans.
