Apologies if this has been done before..

So, anyone got any claims to fame (any anonymous famous peeps can keep quiet if they so choose)? I have a few, all feeble, so I'll start (in no particular order) :

  1. I used to live next door to Huw Something who played PC George Garfield (baby faced, blonde one) in The Bill.

  2. Lisa Stansfield's sister lived in my Halls of Residence, and I once eavesdropped on a phone conversation she had with her (in the days when only drug dealers had mobile phones and we used to use a payphone) when she was asking her to send her some money.

  3. Man who created Postman Pat used to live down my road.

  4. Roy Castle lived in the next road when I was a child.

  5. Stood at the bar next to Mick Hucknall in The Hacienda.

  6. Have friend who is married to ex-keyboard player from Jesus Jones (remember them?). He's a postman now.

  7. Was on same course at University as John Humphrys' daughter, Kathryn. Saw her recently on This Is Your Life and she looks much better than me these days..cow.

  8. The Mock Turtles ("Can U Dig It?" ) lived a few houses down from my Mum and Dad.

  9. My children are descended from criminals on both sides. Dh can claim Captain Morgan the Pirate (of Morgan's Rum) as an ancestor, and I am descended from Jack Sheppard the Highwayman.

Told you they were feeble..anyone else have any good tales of hobnobbing with the glitterati?

You are 1st to know this & I am so excited to have finally seen a famous person... went to the circus today & Robson Green was sat just along from us, with wife & son.
I was SSSOOOOOO excited, just stared at him, better than circus. woohoo.

Just remembered another one.
Met Rolf Harris when he attended a school fete (my friend's ds and his grandson are in the same class)
He performed a little concert and we have a photo of him with dd on the loo wall.

marthamoo - I have worked out that we do sort of know each other I have emailed you through mumsnet, if that's OK - I have lost your email address.

I had a long chat with Michael Palin at a party once. The man is ugly as sin, but soooooo charming and sooooo lovely and friendly, that if he hadn't been married (I'm an old-fashioned sort of girl) I'd probably have embarassed myself.

I was on TV in a documentary once. Wasn't allowed to stay up late to watch it though! The producers must have been told that the younger kids in the documentary hadn't been able to see it, because they organised a special screening for us. It was on my birthday so they laid on extra treats - felt like Royalty!

I have another John Hurt one - was at a film premier, the film was unfortunately terribly dull and my DH and I fell asleep. We woke up at the end to applause directed toward the person behind us...the star of the film John Hurt. We snuck out quietly with red faces

I shared a dorm with Sophie Dahl (was Sophie holloway then) at prep school. She got very upset when another girl put a snakeskin her bed and used to chant mantras before lights out. We were 11-13 at the time so it was VERY odd behaviour.

When I worked in knightsbridge served lots of famous people, but best moment was measuring Thierry Henry's inside leg...

Snogged Ben Holioake (England cricketer who died in a car crash) and a member of the England Rugby team (know his GF so keeping quiet) in a game of truth or dare when we were 15.

Saw Cerys Matthews (ex-Catatonia)in BabyGap in Cardiff over the Summer.

My godfather is in negotiations to sell his house in Madrid to Posh and Becks. Actually, they may have bought it by now.

Lots of other very silly ones.

Cerys from Catatonia elbowed me in the stomach at a Travis gig, then spilled her Carlsberg (eurgh) down my top. Stood at a bustop with all of the Bluetones.
Am the great, great, great, great, great, great, great (there may be more) grand daughter of Rob Roy.
My gran has a photo of her gran as a baby, held by her mum, with her mum at the back, next to her mum. The oldest woman in the photo is Rob Roy's grand daughter. I think that's too many "greats".
