I want to take dh on a romantic long weekend away next March to bruges (first in a long time...) and wandered if anyone has been, and if anyone can recommend a good (preferably reasonably priced) hotel. Also, what is best to see there.

Thank you!!

hmmmm..... I can't recommend a hotel or a restaurant but I WOULD suggest that you also drive to Gent as it is IMO nicer and less touristic ! Bruges is very touristic but I would have thought after 1 (or maybe 2 days) you really would have seen it all (it is small)

We went to Bruges for a romantic week-end about 5 years ago (is it that long????) and loved it! Can't remember which hotel we stayed at, it was central though. Dined at Den Dijver (Dijver is a beautiful walkway along the canal, stunning on a misty morning!), really really nice (we booked though), and also had fantastic mussels in white beer with cherry tomtatoes at La Civiere On Markt, the main square).
Go and see the beguinage (Begijnhof) and St jans Hospital museum, and the Groeninge museum, for more paintings. If you're into history of the 1st World War, there are tours of the Flanders Fields. we did a very interesting one (not v romantic though...), but can't remeber who with..
have a good time!

When we went to Bruge I booked a hotel over the Internet. Can't remember which it wa sadly but it was very central. A quick google search for hotels in Bruge should do the trick though.

We thought Bruges was lovely of a little touristy (as Purpuce says). In-laws enjoyed a trip on a bus round the city, Dh and me did consider the horses and cariiages but they were a bit expensive. There are some great Breweries to visit and sample from too. The Tourist Information is pretty central, just off the main square and they were very useful.
