Is there anyway to find a copy of it - will it be in my history or those cookie things?

If you're using a package like hotmail directly on the web, and didn't tick to copy to sent items, then I'm afraid it's gone for good.

If you're using outlook though then there should be a copy.

You could try your draft messages folder. But like Bewitched says, if it's an online account, and the message wasn't 'saved' then it's gawn.

A (very) long shot would be to search in your temporary internet folder (where it keeps a cache of pages you have surfed) to see if an html page, complete with your text, is in the cache. This is v. hard because the page may well have some completely random name, but if you know exacyly when you sent it, and you didn't do too much web surfing around the same time, I guess it's possible you might find it.

Might be easier to ask friend to check his / her spam folder, things often get filed as spam for no reason. Alternatively, try commencing their e-mail address again by typing the first few letters into a new blank message, and see if you get an 'autocomplete' suggested which shows you sent it to the wrong domain so you can (possibly) ask for a copy to be sent back to you !

Not much help, sorry.

Reboot your PC, huggy. Maybe check antivirus definitions are up to date, scan for spyware, reboot again.

If you're being very keen and techy, ran your Disk Defragmenter and Scandisk to make your PC squeaky clean.

My norton anti thingy expired a while ago, it keeps asking me to update it - could that be causeing it?

I keep meaning to defrag but it takes hours and hours!

Norton a/v, whilst it certainly messes with your PC a fair amount, shouldn't cause random crashes, huggy...

Windows tends to sometimes get itself in a state, and rebooting is usually the best thing for it. (Other than buying an Apple Mac, LOL).

Do a full / deep 'scan disk' tonight and run a defrag overnight tomorrow.

Click Accessories / System Tools (or whatever it's called) and you'll (hopefully) find a menu entry called 'Scan Disk' (it may have been renamed or wrapped into some funky 'disk manager' in the latest versions of Windows, but thankfully I am blissfully ignorant about that )...

Run the prog, and click the options which read something like 'scan everything / thoroughly / data as well as system / everything / my whole disk' etc. (you get the idea ). Select 'fix all problems / don't ask me / just do it / repair all' (again, words to that effect).

It will take hours and it's really best not to touch your PC whilst this is running, nor have any open applications as scan disk will just keep restarting till you throw your PC out the window.

If you want to be Head Girl, empty your trash first, clear your Internet history, empty your cache, remove any unwanted programs (used to be 'Control Panel / Add Remove Programs') and run an anti-spyware first.

When, eventually, scan disk says 'I found these problems on your drive and fixed them', smile sweetly, and then run your defrag (Accessories / System Tools / Defragmenter).

If you can't find the stuff I'm going on about, read your Windows helpfile, it could be in the (later) version of Windows you've got, it's all wrapped up in a swanky 'Disk Manager' program IYSWIM.

Good luck.
