I've been looking at the catalogue and would like to place an order. Has anyone dealt with them in the past? What are they like? Lovely kids clothes. R.

I've ordered things from Verbaudet and they've been fine, although the sizes are on the small size. I now order the size they recommend for my child's age/size and also the next one up. Then I send back the less well fitting item. HTH

Just received an order today Rhiannon; with my free child pop up tent, much loved by toddler and his 'babies' already.

Easy to order, comes quick, definitely agree on the small size, the sleeves on a jumper for me were way to small, but so easy to return etc, so far so good I reckon.

Pupuce · 25/09/2001 20:29

I have ordered a sleeping bag (with ds name embroidered) - lovely. But the bibs were complete crap. So 50/50 for me. I haven't ordered again because I don't find them THAT cheap and I prefer to shop in person.

IDismyname · 25/09/2001 20:51

I've ordered from Verbaudet in the past, and the sizes are pretty small. However, I've recently used La Redoute which also has great clothes esp. for boys. For £94, I've got 6 polo necks, a very smart jumper, 2 sweatshirts, 2 prs trousers and 4 pairs of pyjamas! Not bad, eh?!

Emmagee · 25/09/2001 22:33

I order a load of stuff from them every season and think they are great. Their prices are very fair and the clothes stand up to alot of wear and tear. I also love the freebies you get, the toys are usually quite plasticky but go down well with 'herself' and it doesn't matter if they don't last too long.

Marina · 26/09/2001 08:20

Rhiannon, our son wears mostly Vertbaudet and La Redoute. We think they are great. As others have said, they come up on the small side, like all French clothes. Once you are a customer, if you can bear to wait long enough each season, you will get letters offering you 10%, then 15% off your first order from that catalogue. This makes them very economical too.
One thing: they have some nice brands in the catalogue (Petit Bateau and Absorba undies, Bonpoint formal wear). If you ever get to France, these are MUCH cheaper to buy there. The supermarkets in Calais stock the PB and Absorba range.

I order from them, just waiting for an order now with our free pop up tent. I like the clothes, trendy and I dont think they are dear. Lots of cotton too. My mum buys clothes for ds from Le Redoute which have always been good too. Try it Rhiannon I dont think you will be disappointed.

Pupuce · 26/09/2001 09:26

Marina, you are correct. Their underwear are what I found expensive when I compared their price to the French supermarkets.
To all: if you do go to large French supermarket, have a look at the Petit Bateau and Absorba range (like Marina recommended)... they are VERY good quality and usually on offer so quite cheap.

Lizzer · 26/09/2001 10:00

I echo what everyone else has said on style and value BUT some things I have ordered I've had to send back because I thought the quality of the stitching or material wasn't up to scratch - I know they are cheap and all I'm saying is that don't expect perfection on everything. I like the fact that they are a different style to usual high st. stores but at similar prices...I've also found some of the styles very like Kenzo - which is always a good thing I think (especially for £££'s cheaper!)

Crunchie · 26/09/2001 12:51

I want a tent!! All I've offered is stupid toys! I would order if I knew I got a free tent!

Ems · 26/09/2001 13:08

Crunchie, I cant remember the order no. for the tent, Joe can you remember? If not, phone and ask if you can swap your 'free toy' order no, for the pop-up tent one, I'm sure they'd oblige, wanting your new order and all that. Give it a try.

Rhiannon · 26/09/2001 13:36

OK, I'm going to start with some tights and perhaps some of the plum and green gear for my DD. Can't remember the last time I bought myself anything! R.

I've just been sent their catalogue and am going to give them a go too - I have always been very pleased with La Redoute stuff.
With my first order I've been offered a free speak & learn computer - I would go mad if I had to ensure yet another electronic toy - so I WANT A TENT TOO!

Joe · 27/09/2001 12:14

order code for the tent is 8249 now everyone can have a tent and if you order 3 items or more you get a Ladybird bubble maker, Ive got one of those coming too it also includes free P&P.

Wornout · 27/09/2001 13:01

I have used Vertbaduet for a couple of years now. I have always been pleased with their goods, I am quite pleased with the sizing on the trousers as my Ds is very slight although tall for his age, so it is about the only place I can get trousers that do not end up around his ankles. Having said that No 2 Ds is built like a rugby player and they are absolutely no good to him. But I have always been very pleased with the service and quality. They also do Adidas which comes up on a good size.

Joe · 07/10/2001 12:06

has anybody ordered their tent

Ems · 07/10/2001 12:18

Yep, its up in the sitting room at the moment. Its one of those things that I will never be able to pack up into the size it arrived in! Certain skill involved!

Its nice though, a good freebie to have.

As for the jumpers I ordered, they've been going back and forth. I ordered a size 14, they arrived with the sleeves far too short, so phoned to exchange them up a size, no problem all done really easily, courier came to pick them up etc. New ones arrived and again were size 14, apparently their sizing is 10-12, 14-16, 18-20. So the tiny armed jumper was a 14-16, so I am now awaiting my size 18-20 lambswool jumper. So much for dieting and losing all that weight so that I didnt have to see that size again!

Oh well as long as they wash well, as my mother would say.

Joe · 08/10/2001 10:18

Just got mine today, I have been away and it was delivered next door. I will wait till hubbie comes in, it is the same as the tent we got for the beach impossible to put back into the bag except by pure accident. When we used it in June I had to drag it to the waters edge and drag him in from surfing to fold it. Ordered quite a few bits for ds, havnt tried them all on yet but look really nice.

I've ordered a few things in the past, and echo the 'good quality' line. Would also point out, if you wait awhile after you receive the catalogue, they begin sending 10% off letters, followed a few weeks later by 15%, then 20%, and if you still haven't ordered after a couple of months, a whacking 25% off is promised on your first order - its then I go for it!

Vertbaudet offer code 5525 free gift (unknown) and 10% off entire order! Probably too late for Bron, but useful to keep for future reference.

webmum · 04/03/2003 13:47

I ordered a maternity jumper and also something for dd but was not impressed byt the quality of the stitching or the fabrics. Also delivery was not that fast and came in installments (with the free gifts arriving weeks later).
Surprisingly I found the sizes too large, and my 2yo dd can still swim in her 18months coat.......ok she's not teh biggest toddler in the world, but still it seems a lot to me. (mind you we have the same problem with other high street brands, except babygap and benetton)Anyway I've decided notto order any more, but I'm not too keen on catalogue shopping in general: I prefer to see what I buy!!!(before I buy it)
