Not got any tips really (opposite problem for me), but are you ok BB? That doesn't sound good. Forgive me - no need to disclose anything, but my sis lost an unhealthy amount of weight in a short time recently due to her deep depression, before eventually taking the overdose, so I'm a bit concerned for you.

BattyBadgerBadger · 27/10/2005 23:09

Hi Aero, I'm ok .

Just the recent seperation, crazy month long periods, breastfeeding and training and I've slipped down to 7 and a half stone (at 5'7") without even realising, until I saw some pics of myself recently .

I ended up feeling quite lightgeaded for the last 24 hours so went to the FPC and got the crazy cycle sorted (hoping the pill will help my appetite too). Stopped feeding dd2 as of today . So, just got to get the weight in order now. I bought spatone because I'm probably anaemic too. But emotionally I'm doing better than I have in a long time.

I'm sorry for worrying you x

Thanks for all the foody suggestions!

my SIL always recommends minadex which is a tonic as a pick me up... and touch wood it has always worked. Good luck.

WickedWestCountryLass · 27/10/2005 23:21

Nestle Build-Up?

High protein foods?

Vitmin/Mineral tonic?

Aero · 27/10/2005 23:21

That's ok - I hadn't realised that there'd been a separation tbh - clearly not awake enough in badger hours . Think I remember a thread a long time ago though that might have suggested it was possible.
7.5 stone - ouch and you're taller than me and I looked slim at 11 stone (5'6"). Lots of chocolate perhaps. Milky stodgy puddings like cake and custard (bleugh) was what the Dr suggested when ds1 was a little underweight as a baby. Are you actually eating proper meals?

BattyBadgerBadger · 28/10/2005 00:23

No, TBH I'm not managing proper meals an longer. It's got to the stage where I have no appetite at all and can manage very little when I do eat.

I'm hoping to work towards increasing my intake, so my appetite will increase then working on creating meal sized appetite from there. Not that I've ever been great with large meals!

I can't believe I haven't been aware of all of this sliding. I suppose I haven't managed to create a reasonable routine since the split. Not one that leaves room for me to do stuff like eat, anyway.

Sorry. Didn't mean to sound short.

I'm just really, really pi**ed off with myself!

also try Complan. I used to mix it up using Jersey Cow's milk as it has the highest fat content of any cow. You can get it sold that way in supermarkets.

BattyBadgerBadger · 28/10/2005 08:16

Thanks for all these tips, I'll definitely be using some

I have always been skinny and was 6 and a half stone at one time

Stopping breastfeeding will help although I know it's sad to have to stop. I have 4 girls and was still really skinny after my 4th but the weight did start to appear after I stopped breastfeeding.

Small regular meals are really important and they will gradually increase to large regular meals believe me!!!

I am now 8 and a half stone at 5'7"

tarantula · 28/10/2005 08:46

Lots of small regular meals was the way i put on weight and also (it may sound mad) I did lots of exercise which built up my appetite. theres nothing likea long walk to get you starving hungry. I eat at least 4 small meals a day (brekkie, lunch, dinner and supper) and often 2 snacks. they are not big meals so prob eat no more than most other people.
I suggest keeping lots of cereal in the house for snacking when you cant be bothered to cook. If you bake make large batchs of scones (cheese scones made with wholemeal are great) and keep in the freezer. couple of minutes in the micro and you have a great snack. Or get to the supermarket in the evenings and stock up on jall their bargain fancy breads for the freezer
Also when you do cook, cook things you can freeze that way you can do 4 times as much as you need and then always have something in the freezer for when you cant be arsed.

magnolia1 · 28/10/2005 09:46

Agree with Tarantula about excercise, I have a dog (and a new puppy ) and walking her for an hour a day and going to Aerobic dance also increases my appetite

foxinsocks · 28/10/2005 09:54

If you're not managing whole meals, go out and buy lots of nuts. They are rich in protein and quite fatty and you don't need to eat a lot of them to get their benefit.

ARealWitch · 29/10/2005 14:12

Lemon juice in water about half an hour before each meal time - which should be about 8 times a day with small portions each time. Don't put too much on the plate, when your appetite has gone the sight of too much can actually make you eat less.

Will email you soon Badger, promise x

Aero · 29/10/2005 17:54

You didn't sound short at all. These are all good tips and I honestly hope you start to put on a some weight and feel better soon. Agree too about the exercise to work up an appetite. Is it also possible that you might be feeling low causing your loss of apetite?

Kaz33 · 29/10/2005 18:03
