Well she is only 13months at the moment. I just dont know what she may want at 16 month and after? DH has some ideas but they are things he wants not necesarily what she would like.

What do they get into next?

I just want to be prepared when asked what she might want. We are getting her a trike as we didnt really get her anything much for her 1st birthday in Sept.

Cheers

lots of things for her age here

Nemo666 · 24/10/2005 10:50

for ds last year he was 14mths for the xmas. We got him an aqua draw which he still plays with, fisherprice garage and a musical thomas tank. All of them he will play with now so its a bonus to get something that will last. Trike may be too old as ds still cant peddle his but i did get one with parent handle.

koalabear · 24/10/2005 10:51

my son is now 18 months - at 16 months (and still now), he loves to put things in and out of boxes - collect things and put them in tubs - some of his little friends who are girls are getting loads of millage out of little tea sets

our son also likes hoola hoops, and a big blow up paddling pool filled with plastic balls (good for when it is raining outside too)

Nemo666 · 24/10/2005 10:52

the caterpillar with balls is another good one..in fact anything they drop balls into..ds got a v tech tree for his 1st bday which he also still plays with.

sweetkitty · 24/10/2005 10:55

DD will be 17 months at Xmas, I tend to get her the next stage up toys that I would tend to buy for her anyway (18 months +) this is what I am buying her so far:

little Fimbles TV thing
tea set (she will love this as she loves pretending to drink and also sort things)
little pram (she loves pushing things along and everything will go in it)
aqua draw (as everyone is raving about them - may ask relatives for that one though)
ball pit tent thing (as she's really into tunnels right now)

Beabea · 24/10/2005 10:56

Thanks compo - there are several toys on there that she had for her birthday. I guess I feel she has loads of toys already. Is there anything else other than toys?

Nemo666 - she loves the trikes at M&T groups but cant touch the pedals. I was thinking of the ones with the parent handle.

I dont know - the girl who has everything and only 13months. I just dont want hundreds of useless toys sitting around. I would rather just have a few good ones. Which is what she has now. waffell!

Koalabear - yes the pool and balls is great

Nemo666 what is the catapilla. She loves putting things in and out of boxes cups etc. Also resortting our kitchen cupboards

Sweetkitty - will have to look at the aqua draw. We have a tunnel - another cast off from my sis

bea on the first page of the link compo did there is a caterpillar you put balls in and it was £16..something like that always goes down well.

Beabea · 24/10/2005 11:18

Thanks Nemo666 - She has something similar but she cant do it yet. She loves the cars on it. Looks like she could manage the catipillar. Will see what DH thinks.

Has she got loads of books? Ds looked those 'That's not my...' boks at that age. She might like the fairy, princess, kitten ones rather than the tractor, car etc ones!!

Beabea · 24/10/2005 11:29

Yes - fairy, monster and bunny ones. She has lots of books :-) She has lots of family and friends who get stuff for her. So its a nightmare. I could just say money but then she wont have anything to open. Perhaps I shall wrap up some empty boxes as she like those too.

beabea sounds like you need to spend as little money as poss
I'm not a fan of trikes as by the time they can reach and push the pedals they are too big for the trike IME.
We bought ds2 a whale rocker from little Tykes for his 1st b/day.
last christmas when he was 20 mo he got a road and rail set (the big thing with the green hill) that I picked up at a school fair, a lovely book to write a message in and keep, errr not a lot else really. He has 2 older siblings so I try to keep it down.
I alwyas like things that can be used up and thrown away like craft stuff, crayons, colouring books, play dough, sticker books thop yr dd may be a bit young for most of those.

Beabea · 24/10/2005 11:39

thanks scarymary, its really for others, rater than us.

My DD loves babies so we have got her a buggy and dolly for Crimbo. I am going to ask one of my rellies to get her an Aquadraw as she loves colouring and drawing.

Beabea · 24/10/2005 20:57

Looks like the Aquadraw is going to make it on DD list too. She got a buggy and dolls for her 1st birthday.

Any other ideas? Especially for under £10

My DD is 17 months and she just loves her trike (well DS's handmedown) with the parent handle but make sure it also actually has a harness. We bought our nephew one for his birthday - it was £30 from Argos and is orange and green and its great from this age because you can actually steer with the parent handle, plus it has sort of bars that go round the body rather than just the harness which can be removed at the next stage.

A sand and water table is good at that age but maybe a bit unseasonal. ELC £5 doll's stroller is good. We are getting DD (she will be 19 months) a kitchen. Also thinking of suggesting Happyland (ELC) stuff to family - DD has the thatched cottage that she likes. She's also into the Teletubbies so I've bought a friction noo-noo off Ebay.

scaryclary · 25/10/2005 09:22

yeah happyland is a good idea actually, lots available in all price ranges. We've never had any but if you start it young enough you can quickly get enough to play nice games with.
ALso we love Brio train track, all mine (2 DSs and DD) have enjoyed that and again, it's cheap and easy to add to. (buy Sainsbury's or Tesco's cheap facsimile rather than the real thing!)
