Was I right to report this to the police?

Just been travelling back from my Mom and Dad's when a motorbike (who was convinced I'd cut him up - really I hadn't, he was at the junction on the roundabout when I was already driving onto it iyswim) drove right up my backside then pulled level with me and tried to force me into the kerb, he then hit the side of my car (not sure if this was with his hand or his bike, there is no damage), I stopped and he sped off. I got my Dh to ring the police (who were very nice about it all and took the approach that he must have been a daft man to try and ram a car with a bike) as I was so mad that he had decided this was the thing to do when I had a baby on board and it was pitch black - he was really trying to intimidate me when he was driving alongside the car. The police said I have to call into the station tomorrow as dd was crying ast this point and I just wanted to get her home.
Now I'm worried, did I just over react? Will he be able to find out who I am and come to find me? What if the police go to see him and her decides he's going to try and do me for cutting him up, even though I didn't? I'm in a real panic now

Thank you SS, you know when you get home and think about things and just start to wonder.....keep imagining the police turning up at his door (we got his plate number) and then him taking revenge by finding out where I live or tailing the car. I watch too many movies

I think you did the right thing. Hopefully a visit from the police will frighten him as much as he frightened you.

Thank you coppertop, he bloomin' did frighten me, just so pleased Dh was in the car too!

you did the right thing. and there's no way he could find you. It's very scarey when people behave like that. I'm fairly sure someone followed me recently cos he thought I had cut him up (again, I hadn't). half expected the car to get keyed cos (perhaps stupidly) I pulled into our drive so he knows where I live. didn't happen though - presumably he calmed down.

You did the right thing.

A similar thing happened to me a while ago but it was a van that tried to run me off the road. Unfortunatately for the van driver, I took the phone number for his work as well and my hubby phoned up the place, spoke to the manager. The driver got into trouble with the police, got his van taken away from him by his work and was given a final written warning.

These people are nothing kore than glorified bullies.

Don't worry, there is no way he could find out who you are but I do fully understand your concerns.

Yes, you did the right thing. I reported a car that cut across 3 lanes of traffic on a roundabout and swerved in front of me, causing me to slam my brakes on to avoid hitting it. He was going so fast his tyres were screaming. Police were great about it - they traced the owner and told me that they would pay him a visit, and they don't give out details of who has reported the incident.

Thank you so much for your support, it is so frightening when this sort of thing happens and it's even worse when you know you'll be travelling around in a car with your little one too. Dh is at the police station now (I'm afraid I chickened out) so don't know what's happening but it's reassuring to hear that your details are never given out.
