I took ds (16m) to Clarks last week for a pair of proper shes as he's been in cruisers for ages and walking for a few months now. I got him some gorgeous little boots but have noticed sometimes when I take them off there are red marks on his feet which to me makes the assumption they are too tight?

When she measured his feet he was sitting on my knee. I know nothing about measuring feet but I'm thinking surely for the width he should have been standing up so that they measure wide enough for when his feet are flat and at their widest? (If that makes sense?!)

Should I take the boots back and change them or go elsewhere? (where?)

I would take him back to Clarks and get them to remesure and fit... I'm assuming there is some policy for giving you the right size if you take the reciept etc showing when you bought them.

when the measured my DS at clarkes he was sitting on my knee but quite far forward so his legs were clear of mine. Then his width and length were checked when he was standing in advised size. They put him up a size last time compared to what measurement said when he was in them

Clarkes can be really crap at measuring shoes. It depends on who you get. Ive been given 3 different measurements at 3 different shops in one week. Take em back and tell them you arent happy and you wnat him remeasured and the shoes changed. they should do it for you.
Then next time look round for a good independant shoe shop. I find they are much better

Yes they always measure them sat down. But should check the fit when stood up. Had to take some doodle back once.

I've just taken them off and had a look at his feet and the tops are all red and there's quite a deep imprint of the tongue/seams. Hmmm def going back me thinks!!

And there was me thinking Clarks were meant to be the best for this!!!

As I know from bitter experience with dd and her incredibly awkward-shaped feet, it is fit not size that matters. You need an experienced fitter, and I haven't had a lot of luck in Clarks shops with that. I go to John Lewis, where they stock a variety of makes (including Clarks), and the staff seem to know what they're doing. The sad thing is, every time I see a pair I really like, they turn out to be the wrong shape for dd. Certainly you should take them back, and if you're not happy with how well they do the fitting, get a refund.

When I take thewm back do I put him in his old shoes or put him in the new ones so I can show them what they do to his feet??
