I was so appalled at the Rangers v Celtic game last night I have written this complaint. Hope to get some support.

Dear Sir/Madam

Re: Ranger v Celtic Match, Wednesday 2 March 2011

I am writing as a concerned mother of a football fanatic 14 year old son. I enjoy a lot of sport and share this enjoyment with my family. However I do not enjoy watching the game of football. On the odd occasion that I do, I am always disappointed in the gamesmanship within this popular sport.

I caught the last 15mins of the Rangers, Celtic match on Wednesday night and was appalled at the way this game was approached and played. Grown men who call themselves professionals and are paid thousands to play this ?so called? sport. Sport is not what I witnessed, what I did witness was verging on violence and thuggery. I have no doubt these men hold a lot of skill and I understand the passion of the game but this seem to have been totally ignored or forgotten during this match, which basically came down to a playground battle. There appears to be very little respect for the referee, which is not seen in other sports. The referee being grabbed by a player was absolutely appalling, I am sure it could be classed as assault.

Stronger fines and penalties against this type of behaviour must be put in place. The managers conduct shocked me more, what type of example is that to set to your team. The future stars of this sport must understand that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.

Do I want my son to ?aspire? to this type of playing, certainly not. I felt I had to explain to him that this type of conduct was absolutely out of order. His dream is to play professional football, to even be part of an old firm game. If up to me he would go nowhere near the sport.

I felt so strongly about this that I had to write this complaint and make my feelings known. I am sure I am not alone. I do hope that you take this issue seriously and put a plan into place to ensure that this does not become a regular occurrence and that the young players of today and stars of the future see this type of conduct punished.
