What is a good, new mobile phone?

Am ordering a new contract phone and wondered what was a good one to get.
With 3 atm, at the service is shite so looking to go with T-Mobile or Orange.
Any suggestions on a good handset to get? am so useless with these types of things.

Are they easy to find? Could I just get on from your average high street place?
