31 years ago this year I gave birth to a lovely little gem, now she is a sparkling diamond. she is beautiful, caring, loving, hardworking, thoughtful, a fantastic mother herself of two children. She puts her family before herself. Now I think she deserves recognition for everything she has done in her life. Believe me I have never been so proud. She has also taken care of things for me while I have been having chemo, I don't know what I would have done without her. HANDS UP WHO IS AS LUCKY AS I AM!

Thank you Herbietea, you sound as though you have every right to be proud, they are wonderful and they will always be there for you just as my DD is for me. She is my best mate. I don't know why they always categorize all children as the same, ours prove they are not, ours are special xx

Can I add myself to the lucky list.

I have 2 teenage boys and both have dyslexia and other mild learning disabilities - I was told that my eldest would never ride a bike let alone do anything else because his dyspraxia was so bad - now he's at Uni.

My other son took to knuckling down to his studies after watching Charlie Boorman's 'Long Way Down'; seeing children unable to access an education he started to value his and dispite his educational problems I hope will get enough GCSE's to get into sixth form.

I'm a lone time single parent too and both boys have never given me cause for concern and are very tolerant of our none too great financial situation... I am a very fortunate mum.

I think children with learning disabilities are much more special than those without because they have to try harder. You do have wonderful children and you have every reason to be proud. They will always be your friends too as you obviously love them dearly and take great care of them. hugs xx
