Our cat has recently been banned frm upstairs after introducing fleas into the house (and me getting nearly all the bites).

I have a baby gate which keeps the dog downstairs but am all up for ideas on how you stop the cat going up, I have 2 and must admit am a little concerned about this when my baby is born.

my cat sleeps on our bed - -dh quite often goes to fetch him and put him on it

when ds1 was small though the cats were shut in the kitchen at night

One of my cats has a habit of peeing if she can't get out though (instead of letting us know) and the cat flap is in the front door. The back door is made of glass (which is where the kitchen is and would be the only room I could shut them in) It's either that or get rid of the cat flap and leave them out all night which I don't want to do

I have 3 indoor cats who do go upstairs, since DD was born they sleep on our bed during the day but never when she is in it, they have never slept or shown any interest in her room or bed.

They have a system, DD downstairs they are upstairs and vice versa. At her bedtime they descend on us downstairs.

I have 3 stairgates (for stairs and kitchen) and they are all raised about 4 inches so the cats can limbo under them.

I hate litter trays. I think I will just have to resign to be extra careful about door closing etc etc and hope like you sweetkitty that the cats aren't interested.

We have a stairgate to stop the dog going upstairs but the 2 cats go up there. They are not allowed at night though and are chucked out at night in summer or in the kitchen in winter. One of mine has a habit of hiding and then getting shut inside my room. He has peed twice on my duvet I have to through it and get new duvet each time!!!
