DS has had a really runny nose and his school jumper is covered in snot. Does anyone know how to get it out? Vanish doesn't work.

A normal wash should do it ... can't see why not, if it can shift dd's snot it can shift anyone's

Papillon · 14/10/2005 13:15

I am amazed - I never knew snot stained so!

Perhaps a really hot wash if the jumper can stand it... or overnight soak?

misdee · 14/10/2005 13:15

just wash it.

Gobbledispook · 14/10/2005 13:16

Really?? I've never found snot stuck after a normal wash!

Distelsspirit · 14/10/2005 13:16

Nop, just doesn't wash out at 50 degrees.

Are you sure it's snot and not PVA glue? They look very similar on a jumper except snot washes out and PVA doean't.

Old thread I know but it still shows up on a google search even though it remains unanswered. I believe it might be down to overloading your washing machine. Washing machines usually have a load limit, not only to prevent burning out the motor but also so the clothes have space to move and rub against each aiding cleaning. When you overload the machine you effectively create a dough ball that just spins around with drum. Your clothes should be making an elliptical pattern in the drum, not round. Overloading is easily done as time is so scarce while our little bundles of joy consume our every waking moment. Truth is, we've just got to do the washing more often.

Handwashing works as well. Pour boiling water on the spot, smudge in a bit of laundry bar soap, and scrub with an old toothbrush. Rinse. Repeat if necessary.
