I've been taking dd (18mo) for the last 6 months, she really enjoys it. It wears her out for the day and she usually sleep for about 2 hours after a session. It's also really built her confidence physically, she seems to know no fear these days!

The only annoying thing is they make you pay for 5 sessions in advance and if you don't go you lose the money. I don't think that's unusual for one of these organised activies but it is a bit irritating.

They are brilliant. I took dd from 6 months until she was 3, and it did great things for her co-ordination and her confidence. I would highly recommend it for children of your son's age.

Once she got to 3, though, she had to go in on her own, and the one time I was allowed in to watch, all of the joy had gone from it. When she completed a complicated move, no-one praised her or congratulated her, and it was really odd to watch the children going around the circuits in silence. It was suddenly hard work for no reward, and I stopped her classes there and then.

DS1 went to Tumble Tots over 18 years ago, so my info is not up-to-date , bt he absolutely loved it, and still remembers bits now. i.e. the parachute they all used to run under. He was a very, very active wee boy and infact has just gone to uni to study Sports Management {proud mum emoticon]

Will definately be taking ds2 (20mths) soon.

Popular with my two boys.

One tip I would give anyone starting out though is not to get discouraged if they take time to warm up to it. Both boys take (or took in the case of ds1 who has stopped now he's school age) a good 3-4 weeks to get "used" to the next level class and did a fair bit of messing around in that time, but I'm glad I perservered.

Ds2 still has days now where he doesn't really want to participate "properly" (he's 17months and in the less structured class of walking to twos) but still runs around manically and burns lots of energy so still encouraging him to be active. Other weeks he does everything.

Has a fab time regardless and I think it's worth every penny.

Love it! Our DD has been late reaching her milestones. We gave TumbleTots a try, in addition to working with her on our own. She's come on leaps and bounds and loves her classes - which wear her out.

If your ds is very active he may find TT a bit boring. Ds1 is very active, very physically able and although he liked it from about 18 months, just before 2 he used to bring me his shoes halfway through!

The other children went slowly and couldn't quite do ladders etc and he wanted to race up everything. He also hated the circle singing part - he wanted to run off! I found it a bit stressful so stuck to soft play with friends. I know some people hate the Wacky type places, I think they are naff too, but he loved it as there was lots to climb on and it was much better suited to him.

My dd (19 month) loves Tumbletots but she's crap at it. She goes up the slides, across the mats and doesn't have any concept of taking turns. she also stands in the middle at circle time whilst most of the other children will sit and participate in the rhymes. We've been going for months so it's not like shes not used to it, she's just a bit of an individualist. Overall I think it's pretty good.

expatinscotland · 13/10/2005 14:45

Mine really likes circle time best. She dances around, sings along. SO cute I just want to gobble her up! Well, not really. We got her one of those foam flying disks for her Halloween. Can't wait to head to the park for some toss and catch!

MadameButterfly · 13/10/2005 14:48

MY DD loves Tumble tots. I started taking her when she was sbout 9 months old. She is now 3 years old and still loves it.

Weatherwax · 13/10/2005 14:51

My dd1 loved it and went until she was 7. She'd still be going today if they'd let her . However its probably due to Dave and the team who did encouage the kids in the older groups. The leder Dave was as pleased as I was when dd1 finally climbed over the tall equipment on her own, and it wasn't just because he no longer needed to hover over her on the equipment any more! Its a shame WWB had such a horrible experience and shows that the staff do very a bit

dd2 gave up just before she was 4. She refused to go in on her own and became a complete clingy nightmare. But that was another story, I let her give up swimming and TTs but not nursery
