I use Babyworld too. That's the first site I found and I use the antenatal club quite a bit, and occassionally the other discussion forums.

I used to go on Raising Kids too but at one point it got a bit too clicky and sometimes a bit 'nasty' to some posters. I found out about Mumsnet from there. I don't visit that site now at all.

I use Mumsnet most; in fact it is my home page on my computer

I use the same name on all sites I visit. It is the first bit of my e-mail address. I am rubbish with remembering usernames that's why I have it!

3GirlsMum · 06/09/2003 21:49

I used to use Babyworld when I was pregnant with my third daughter but never had time to post on there when she was little. Im now a member of here, of course, RK and UKP. All with different names..lol!

EmmaTMG · 07/09/2003 20:24

I'm a member of UKP and Bounty as well as here (obviously) but I used those sites less than half the amount of time, probably less actually, than I spend here. Mumsnet was the first site I found when looking when we got a PC/broadband last Xmas and it's by far the best one. Like you Claire (of 'andrich) it's my homepage too.

As I found the other sites after this one I was abit more imaginative with my nickname.

SoupDragon · 07/09/2003 20:35

I dabble in Babycenter and Babycentre occasionally.

misdee · 07/09/2003 21:04

i am in mums of babies july-sept 2002, but its seems a bit closed in there atm. i feel shut out, maybe because i want really about from oct last year to april this year due to being homeless and lack of access to a pc.

codswallop · 07/09/2003 21:05

soupy - it sounds like a drug habit!

codswallop · 07/09/2003 21:05

I am loyal to Mn

M2T · 07/09/2003 21:09

Coddy - Do you mean the next Mumsnet one or am I supposed to be writing a book??

codswallop · 07/09/2003 21:10

mn

Angiel · 07/09/2003 21:23

I'm a member of another site, RK. I am favouring mumsnet at the moment though, although I still feel like a newbie here.

Chinchilla · 07/09/2003 22:07

I'm 'with' RK and UKP. I always look/post here first, and then just check out RK. I rarely post there. UKP is not really my cup of tea, and I hate the way that the threads disappear as other threads are posted.

Love it here though.

pupuce · 07/09/2003 22:14

I have been on Mumsnet for well over 3 years and no other site has been as good so never stayed there for more than 5 posts I'd say ! I LOVE the format here... but it is much harder work than even 1 year ago when there was only 50 discussions a day vs the 130 or so now ! It was a smaller community.

tigermoth · 07/09/2003 22:33

I've never posted on any other parenting site. I love mumsnet too much and spend too much time here as it is.

Can I ask a sneaky question, though? to all those who know other sites, can you give a quick personal run down (as in review, not literaly run down) of the others? I will never have time to post on them so I am interested to know what they are like from an insider's point of view.

SueW · 07/09/2003 23:19

I used to look at UKparents a lot when it first started and babyworld too, particularly as I knew one of the people who worked there.

These days the only site I post on is mumsnet but I am a regular contributor on the NCT-Coffee email list which is based at yahoogroups. I like that because I get the emails downloaded and, in the days when I had to pay for dial-up access, I could download and read offline, reply and dial in just to shoot my replies back.

jodee · 07/09/2003 23:35

Can't beat Mumsnet ... but have bought/sold on UKP and met a lovely friend through their coffee morning type of set-up, but have never used their discussion boards.

Demented · 08/09/2003 10:45

I occasionally visit UKP as they are a bit cloth nappy mad over there and I have used their buy and sell board, again for nappies, I have a different user name although I think some from Mumsnet know who I am on UKP. I prefer Mumsnet though.

wickedstepmother · 08/09/2003 10:49

I don't use any site other than MN.

Jenie · 08/09/2003 10:50

I confess I have used other sites in the past (with another name) but now I'm loyal to mumsnet.

Weird thing is my other names were much more adventurous than this one! All the ones I wanted were taken.

wickedstepmother · 08/09/2003 10:50

Have looked a couple of others but the4y did seem a bit more preachy and cliquey than here, so I didn't bother to return.

Slinky · 08/09/2003 11:55

Nowadays, I use Mumsnet and occasionally Babyworld.

Used to be a member of Baby Greenhouse (felt it was geared more to babies/toddlers), RK (bit cliquey) and UKP (should be changed to "UK Judgemental Parents" - some members seem to be so far up their own a*es, it's unreal. Used to get sooo wound up by certain people, couldn't be bothered anymore).

Different name in BW.

SamboM · 08/09/2003 12:48

I used to post on Babycentre when I was pg and dd was first born. Liked the "month" thing (ie there is a separate board for each month, I was due in Aug 2002 so was on that board). Found it got a bit boring though, it was all about what are your kids eating, doing etc, and I wanted something a bit more varied.

Still go back occasionally just to see how they all are!

Can't remember what my name was.

badjelly · 08/09/2003 14:09

Babyworld but only because I wanted dd to have her own page. For chatting there's only one!
