DS (2yo) and I were in a queue in a shop today. There was a big advert by the counter with a black man with dreads and a necklace very similar to one his dad wears. DS pointed and shouted "Daddy, daddy, daddy!".

However DP is white with dreads and DS is white and blond Grin

I just said I suppose he does look a bit like Daddy and left the other people in the queue to puzzle out themselves. Grin

Oops I meant "to puzzle it out themselves" although I'm not sure if that makes sense now?!

No problem, and is it true that more boys are more likely meant to be colour blind than girls? Hmm

If you mean actually colour blind (rather than race) then yes it is true.

I'm studying web design, and we learnt that whereas 1 in 12 men have some kind of colour deficiency, only 1 in 200 women have a colour deficiency. (A colour deficiency covers everything from really quite mild to full on colour blindness).

It might explain some of my make friends' dress sense actually Wink

My personal theory about why this might be is this ... It makes sense in evolutionary terms. If we're right about the division of labour along gender roles - i.e the men did the hunting, the women did the gathering, then it would clearly be an advantage for the women to have keen colour recognition - you need it to be able to recognise when fruit and berries are ripe / which the poisonous ones are. But if - like the men - you're concerned with killing bloody big creatures (actually probably little ones too!) it doesn't really matter what colour the animal is does it?!

Actually I should be revising now!

maybe also threefeet it could be that men are big wusses (huge sweeping generalisation) and being colour blind is an advantage if when hunting you cant see the huge pools of red blood?

Ha ha yeah I didn't look at it like that. I remember being at school and this boy was colour blind, and I remember him telling me it was more common in boys.Weren't sure if he was right, but obviously is!

And there is nothing wrong in putting things of sometimes, especialy revision
