I saw in todays paper that Furnitureland have a closing down sale, I was thinking about going and getting a sofa, but they are in liquidation so should I risk it??? Will it be stock that is in store they are selling??

I would think it's stock i store, yes.

You just have to bear in mind that if anything goes wrong with it, you'll have no where to take it back to.

So I would get the item, didn't want to go and get one if I wasn't going to get the item.

Have you seen one you want in store?

spooklymieow · 07/10/2005 09:51

No, was going to see what they had, nearest store is 15mins on the motorway. I am after a corner sofa, and thought if I can get one cheap, it would be a bonus

Do it.

The only thing I would say is stay away from sofas that recline and things like that because if they brake you'll have to repair it from your own pocket.

Thanks, was just worried that I wouldn't get the sofa if I brought one, but as it will be stock in store, I will get it, won't I??

Well we recently bought a new sofa. It was on offer, a 3 and 2 seater leather recliner for £699. Bargain!

When we went to buy it they said it would be delivered within 1-2 weeks which we thought as great as normally you have to wait about 10 weeks.
After 1 week we got a call saying it would be 6-8 weeks as the sofa they were going to deliver, the leather didn't match in certain places!
We were a bit teed off but later that week they rang again and said they would deliver in a couple of days so it wasn't that bad.

If you are taking it away with you I would say yes,if not I would be weary.

I wouldn't pay in advance for anything that you cannot physically take away with you. If it has to be delivered (either due to its size or if it is stock being held in a warehouse) be careful. They may owe their delivery company money too so they may not prove reliable. Also if it is the display one you are buying check carefully for flaws and damage as it will be sold as seen and you won't be able to ask for a refund later.

Well I went and looked, they had a corner sofa for 699 but I didn't like it very much TBH. I did buy a new tv unit for 36 pounds reduced from 185!!! I looked in Harveys while I was over that way and they had a beautiful corner sofa for 699, which is slighty out of my price range, but I did really like it, so I need to save a bit more.
