Have a file which i need password protecting so that only I can get into it. Can it be done and if so how ??

Plus, if i password protect it , will i still be able to send it to others or not ??

Ok. I think you can put a password on in winzip?I'll have a dig. I did look yesterday, but Windows sucks for this sort of thing ...

Thanks, much appreciated

Paste into a word document and select
save as/tools/secrity options/password protect!!
let me know how you get on

Eh, wouldn't a password-protected file be just as suspicious?

If you want to keep something secret, mail it to a gmail/hotmail account, and keep it there, not on your local machine.

(I can't find winzip on my machine.)

It is already on my hotmail account but having had probs with my account in the past i wanted a copy of it.

Think perhaps your right though and i'm just asking for trouble.

Thanks anyway

Mummy no bones' method will work. Although I had to select "General Options" rather than security options - probably a different version of word?

Weirdly, you can delete a file without having the password.

More usefully, nutcackle, do you want a gmail account? It's google mail, much much better than hotmail, also free. You do need a referral, so I need an email addy to send the referral to - CAT me.

Erm i think one secret account is enough for now but thanks anyway

Have deleted the piccie from the file i'd saved it in now (and from recycle bin), and will just keep it on my hotmail account.
If it dissapears maybe that would be a good thing, cos i wish i hadn't got it now anyway.
