We have a few emos (ie middle class kids whose parents and schools won't let them be goths) and one punk - otherwise it's chavs and neds. All very boring.

MooMooFarm · 14/01/2011 23:10

Ok, maybe that was a bit of a generalisation. What I meant was, most teenagers now just sling on jeans and a tee, which wouldn't look out of place two generations up.

Compare that with past generations - where I live you didn't often see grandmas with mohawks Grin.

usualsuspect · 14/01/2011 23:11

You can't listen to what you like if you are a proper teenager

pointydog · 14/01/2011 23:12

aren't chavs and neds the same thing but chavs are ingerlish and neds are scotch? And neds like being neds but I don't know if anyone likes the term chavs.

i went to a concert a while back(metal) it was so lucky it didn't rain, cos the amount of hair products used........

usualsuspect · 14/01/2011 23:16

Tis because their mummys insist they are home by 9 o'clock

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/01/2011 23:17

No, we have chavs up here - they tend to favour orange skin tones and 'designer' labels. Neds are more thuggish, and usually seen in swingparks of an evening, swigging from bottles of Buckie and fighting. It's a subtle difference - DS1 could probably explain it better than me (but then he's 13 and knows everything)

southeastastra · 15/01/2011 10:16

we have one punk here, just the one, he's about 50 but alas alone.

perhaps they don't dress up anymore and only when they go out, cause i never see any

My son was a punk/goth/metalhead for most of his teen years, and there are lots of goths in our nearest town. There were lots of goths and punks at Leeds Fest these last few years.

Not so now he is at uni further south. There are none - none at all - so he has had to tone down his hair/clothing so he really doesn't stick out so much.
