chocolate peanut, you sound just like me, I remember my mum had to get my school shoes made because ladies shoes were all strappy high heels and I had grown out of kids - nightmare, my ds has inherited them he is 2 years 10 months and wears - wait for it - size ELEVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 05/10/2005 16:03

11??!!oh no!!!!

I looked at her feet yesterday as we went to Clarks for new trainers and slippers and I thought 'shes got it all to come...'

BROWNY · 05/10/2005 16:11

Merglemergle, I thought you were shouting at me there!! Looking at other threads, I've noticed a lot of people get very p*ed off at Clarkes, so you are not alone! Don't worry about it

Flum · 05/10/2005 21:29

Clarks are a rip off. There supposedly accurate sizing system is not accurate at all.

I suspected this as my mum had dd's feet measured without me knowing and I also had them done 2 days later.

One Clarks said size 4 and the other said 5 and a half!!!!!! Hello bit of a difference there. Also one said width F and the other G. I will not darken their doors again.

It is just a ploy to get you to spend £25 on a pair of kiddies shoes. I reckon as with other things you should trust your own judgement.

staceym11 · 05/10/2005 21:59

i will prob go to clarkes for dds first proper shoes, but for now soft booties and soft soled shoes will do, they'r only really there to look good and so she dont pull her socks off!!!!

mummysmilk · 06/10/2005 13:06

Wot is the normal (average) size for a 10 month old boy? My ds seems to have huge feet compared to other babies I know his age! Cant get anything to fit him properly as he cant wear walking shoes but cant seem to find soft ones that fit.I dont want to spend a fortune cos Im sure hes not far off walking, cruising at the mo!I too have been to clarks and the size they told me I cant get his feet into!

shuteye · 06/10/2005 19:21

I just bouhjt a pair of Start rite shoes for my 11month ds. He has been walking for nearly 2 months now but have only let him wear very soft leqather shoes from the shoo shoo company. I only bought the start rite ones (18 pounds) so that his feet would not get wet on rainy days. Indoors he is always bare foot.

shuteye · 06/10/2005 19:27

I have to say though that the salesgirl tried to get me to buy shoes that were not flexible, she then realised that none of them fit my ds feet, not that I would have bought them anyway.

Jen1980 · 07/10/2005 11:26

Any advise? My son will be 7 months on Sunday and started crawling last Sunday. I've bought him clarks crawling shoes as his feet dont seem to fit in the soft ones you can buy elsewhere. His feet are a 3G and he has a really high instep. I saw some really cute soft 'mocasin' style in mothercare, but even 12-18 month ones were too small as his feet are too tubby to fit.... what are the bobux ones I've heard mentioned here?

LIZS · 07/10/2005 11:33

Bobux are the soft leather slippers(uppers and soles), like Daisy roots, but you may have same probelm with width. dd had a few pairs to keep her socks on outside and for when she was cruising. ds had wide feet and wore Padders - cotton uppers and soles with grips on -as a crawler. However babies do not need shoes until they walk outside and barefeet are preferable indoors.

CarolinaFullMoon · 07/10/2005 14:46

why would babies need shoes for cruising? Unless you have marble floors or something and are worried about their feet getting too cold...
