Anyone leased a car on a long term basis?

We've managed without a car for years now - we just tend to hire them for weekends away/holidays as and when we need to and use public transport the rest of the time, but from next year we'll have a school run and a nursery run to do, as well as get ourselves to work, and running a car seems the easiest solution. I don't have any attachment to cars and like the idea of getting use of a brand new reliable car, having all the maintenance covered and then 2/3 years later getting a new model all for a fixed monthly cost - cars suffer so much depreciation anyway.

I gather it's quite common in some countries - has anyone done it here?

we do it at work... you pay about £300 a month for a car like a mondeo/passat etc... all servicing is done and then at end of lease you can pay a lump some to buy it or start again...

I personally dipped out of the scheme cos I reckoned it was too expensive I took out a loan instead and bought a car which I now own... new cars are quite low on maintenance and running costs so I think this is better use of my cash...

I leased a car about 5 years ago. It was a vw polo on a 3 year contract. I paid £240 pcm and it was great. Personal leasing is getting more and more common, have a look at Lex.co.uk - they do offers every month.

It was so convenient not having to worry about services and maintenance.
