Carla, your response to him sounds at face value to be a bit OTT and out of the blue. I know that he's sometimes an arse but to be honest it doesn't sound as if he did anything to deserve you telling him to eff off, call him a bastard and suggest he's got Alzheimers. I know that there's more to this than meets the eye but the conversation sounds strange from your contribution to it as well as his.
