What has your ds/dd learned this week?

It's been an evenful week for us:

DD can roll from front to back (that make both ways but please don't tell her that!)

She's learned to splash in the bath (my hair's still wet)

She loves trees (actually I learned that she loves tree - for all I know she may have known this for weeks)

and she's discovered her feet!

I've decided that nextweek I'll teach her to sleep through the night and solve second order differential equations (well maybe not the sleep thing)

My DD (13 months) today played the kazoo that was in with the musical instruments she got for her birthday from by brother.

Jimjams · 29/08/2003 21:03

well after trying to teach him for 3 years ds1 has learned to blow. Not very reliably yet, but he can definitely blow. He even blew a quick not on a toy trumpet thing.

lou33 · 29/08/2003 21:09

At the age of 2 1/2 ds2 finally sat up unsupported yesterday!

Jimjams well done with the blowing!

ds (5) has learnt to have a screaming fit (just like best friend) to get own way, works for friend doesn't work for him, maybe he's just learnt he likes his bedroom alot instead!!!

ninja · 29/08/2003 21:23

sobernow - I guess that the obsession with toilets takesover from sleep! - using the web at 3 seems pretty impressive

lou33 - wow that must be exciting after the wait

JanHR - is a kazoo that thing that sounds like a comb and paper? If so do you get on well with your brother? (I used to get the noisiest presents I could for my nieces and nephews - I'm dreading the consequences of this!)

My dd (age 6) has learnt that Primary 2 is not as much fun as primary 1 as they don't get to play as much and have to do work instead.

Poor thing

ninja · 29/08/2003 21:40

aaah - one of my friends kids was on a playscheme this summer - he thought that this meant he wouldn't ave to go back to school - that he'd done his one year of school

Ninja, Yes is sounds like a comb and paper. I get on better with my brother now we are no longer at home. We used to fight like cat and dog.
We used to get the noisiest or messiest presents for DP's cousins when they were younger so dreaded what present his aunt would buy. Needn't have worried as she didn't get anything.

sliverx2 · 29/08/2003 22:21

Very charmingly DH has taught dd (1 year old) to stick her finger up her nose, swivel it around and then stick it in her mouth!

eidsvold · 30/08/2003 06:36

my dd has learnt that if someone goes to move away from you before you have finished with them you just pull them back - even if they are bigger than you ( at nursery settling in visit - charming!!)

She has also learnt how to be a poser. Had a day long photoshoot - by the end was doing what the photographer wanted with a little dd pose in between eg. Crawling along the floor with a little stop and hand on cheek pose in between crawls - trying to look all cute and charming...... think she must get it from her dad!!

I've learnt that she will be fine at nursery - that she probably will be too busy having fun and learning to miss her mum. ;(

eidsvold · 30/08/2003 06:36

oops that was meant to be a and I wanted to say excellent news jimjams and lou - our lessons are nowhere near as exciting and important as yours......

Jimjams · 30/08/2003 08:18

lou meant to saw BRILLIANT on the other thread, but I'll say it here instead Well done. I would have been blubbing away!

Day long photoshoot- wow eidsvold.

eidsvold · 30/08/2003 10:30

we managed a half an hour nap so was very tired when it came to about 6pm - so early bed for her and a lazy day today to let her catch up on her sleep.

The good thing was the pics were taken at home, at nursery...and with family and friends as well. They were more - everyday shots - playing, eating, sleeping, and getting into mischief - we adults had to be a bit more posed but the photographer just had her do her thing.

Ds has learnt that if he screams lound enough for long enough the neighbours will come over and see if his alright. That mummy doesn't think it's clever if you break the video cabinet and that dd does not like it if you dismantle Barbie.

Dd has learnt that ds is a pain in the proverbial (she says that) and that life isn't fare.

I've learnt that 2 weeks until full time school is going to be a long time.

Queenie · 30/08/2003 13:53

My 11 mth DS has learnt to take one step then sit down and give up. My almost 3 yo DD has learnt to be a cheeky grimacer who talks through gritted teeth. She has also learnt that mummy can make her face even uglier and her voice even crosser!!

ninja · 31/08/2003 00:04

I hope queenie that next week you can post that one step has turned into many
