Anyone know whether I can remove the maxi cosi xp cover and wash it? It's covered in vomit - yuk. Or do I have to scrub it in situ?
TIA

We have removed the cover for our maxi cosi priori several times and washed it. Its on second child now and first child suffered travel sickness so definitely necessary.

gingernut · 28/09/2005 10:44

Yep, we've washed our maxi cosi priori seat cover too (handwashed it though - don't know about machine).

matnanplus · 28/09/2005 10:46

can be rinsed off prior to machine wash, put into machine with just a big towel

Rowlers · 28/09/2005 11:22

Great - thanks.
Have been clearing up sick ALL WEEK.
I just hope my washing machine holds out ....
Is it easy to get off? The cover I mean.

Not too bad. Straps are hardest bit and remember what you are doing for when you reverse the procedure! I have machine washed cover on several occasions.

there should be pictures in your booklet.

Yes it is reletively easy, it is easiest to once cover is dry to make it into the seat shape and then look at the cover and the seat and work from the bottom/seat to the top/head end taking it slowly.

practice makes it easier.

If your child is a bit prone to vomit, make mess then i would suggest getting some big, bright towels and cutting slits in them for the straps and placing towel over seat cover so it hangs over the whole seat at the foot and sides, easier to wash and you'd have spares ready 'just in case', also put a pampers care mat between seat cover and towel to add absorbancy and reduce cleaning needed, also good when no longer in nappies.

Be aware the sick can drip into the frame of the seat below. ughh. Take it outside and wash the whole thing down with a hose. It works really well and doesn't harm the seat at all.

Rowlers · 28/09/2005 11:51

God knows where the booklet is. Oh to be organised!
Sick everywhere - on the frame too. Good job it's a sunny, blowy day.
Like the towel tip.
Today wasn't car sickness. DD has had a bug but I thought she was over it. Clearly not! Poor mite.
Thanks everyone.

on line adobe booklet

Hope this helps.

NannyL · 28/09/2005 18:23

yup!

i stick all car seat covers and straps etc in one a 40C wash (the one with a line under) (syntheitcs i think) and they ALWAYS come out fine..
(i normally put the straps, head cushions etc in a net washing bag thingy)

normally dry in about 12 hours in airing cupboard (never dared any other way to dry!)

I have also literally hosed down a car seat that was full of sick cause the 'bits' do somehow get right into the plastic bit (nice, NOT!)
