Hi
We always hear tales of rubbish customer service but I received the best customer service ever!

I ordered goods from Viking Direct on Monday 6th Dec after 5.30pm and received them the next morning, so quick! I sent them a thank you email yesterday and I received a box of luxury shortbread this morning!

Good eh Xmas Smile

A few Christmases ago our carving knife broke, the hand;e came off.

Was early December I think. We'd got the carving set as a wedding present a few years before, so not bought it or anything.

I contacted the UK importer of the brand from Germany i think - so not even the maker's themselves.

I said there was no hurry but they insisted i couldn't be without my carving knife for Christmas and sent me a free replacement :)

Norwich and Peterborough Building Society.

I was waiting for a cheque to go through and it was paid in late - all my standing orders and direct debits weren't paid and I was facing £22 for each one that bounced.

I got a letter through stating this and the last paragraph said;

"But we have reviewed the situation and looked back through your history with us and have waived all fees".

I showed the letter to people for weeks afterwards and they were stunned. Norwich and Peterborough Building Society got several new customers that year.

Bless 'em.

Bibbidee - it really was. And I couldn't write and tell his bosses because he told me he wasn't supposed to do it but he had five minutes free to help!

Suncottage · 08/12/2010 21:16

Bibbidee

Yes but they have closed my local branch.

I missed a DHL delivery to my house one day. Later that day I saw a man in a DHL uniform doing his shopping in Tesco. I went up to him to see if he could help. He called the driver for my area who then met me back at my house with the goods! I though that was great.

BackInTheRoom · 08/12/2010 21:37

Panzee- you two used normal common sense! Do you reckon that's what it was like 'back in the day'? Confused

An elderly relation of mine recently got overcharged in Waitrose by mistake - the cashier accidentally put in £4.50 instead of 45p for something. After she left the store, she realised and went back.

The manager apologised immediately, gave her her money back, took her to the big display of fresh flowers and said "we are so sorry you were inconvenienced and had to come all the way back here, pick any bunch of flowers you like" (for free). Grin. She was talking about it for weeks afterwards!

my dad accidently walked out of John Lewis in norwhich with a pack of three films in his hand - it wasn 't until we had wlaked about a mile to a cafe where he realsied. I told him I would phone on the way home and pay for the films on by card.

i telephoned and payed and they took my address. When I got home to the midlands on the saturday mornign the doorbell went and the post man stood their with a parcel - inside where three more films and a thank you letter for being honest and telephoneing to pay for the items

Best customer service I ever received was from Apple Store Milton Keynes. I bought a second hand Macbook on eBay, was about 3 years old when I got it. It had no paperwork or guarantee, but was from a reconditioner so I knew it wasn't stolen. After I had owned it for about 6 months, I cracked the casing. I took it in expecting a repair bill, but they fixed it for free ("it shouldn't crack") and replaced my US keyboard with a UK one ("If you want it - why should you have the wrong one?" Well, because it was cheap...). I was absolutely honest with them throughout about where I got it, that I had cracked it etc. and they didn't care!

My dad got his iPhone wet, took it in there and they replaced it with a new one because it was less than a year old. Even though HE GOT IT WET!! They are amazing.

Some amazing stories!

We were staying at a friends flat in london overnight and there was no milk in.

Dh went out to find some milk, nowhere was open but he saw a staff member opening up a Pret cafe, asked her for ideas for somewhere for milk as his pg wife wanted a cup of tea.
She said don't be silly, opened up, made 2 cups and said come back later when the tills are open to pay.

We drank the tea, had a lazy morning, headed out to the Pret for a late breakfast & she wouldn't accept any money :)

Lovely lady!

Some years ago my bread knife, inherited from my great aunt fell apart. The end of the blade goes into the wooden handle, and there is a sort of little ring that covers the join. The problem is, that when her's was made the tail at the end of the handle isn't really long enough.

Anyway, rang Granton in Sheffield and they said to send it back. It came back, fixed and beautifully polished. It must be over a hundred years old, because it was my great grandmother's before I think.

It's super, but vicious. It's not serrated, but has the sort of finger-nail shaped indentations in the blade that you see on a ham knife. My mother could cut bread with her's that was about 1/10th of an inch thick.

You think that you haven't cut yourself, and then seconds later you realise that you have. Brilliant for slicing bread, though.

They are fab. We used them at work for years. I put in my last stationery order before I went on mat leave and mentioned that there was a new contact for them as I was going off to have a baby. The stationery arrived the next day complete with a bear for the baby. I howled! Blush
